The peacock is recognized by its beautiful multicolored tail, reminiscent of the train of a royal outfit. Such decoration is peculiar only to males, who use it to attract females during courtship. At first glance, it may seem that it is difficult to draw a peacock, but in fact, the image of this bird consists of simple, repetitive elements.

It is necessary

  • Paper,
  • pencil,
  • paints,
  • eraser.

Instructions

Step 1

First, sketch out the general features of the bird. Draw a small circle for the intended head. From it, lower two slightly diverging lines down. Draw a large ellipse at the end. The second ellipse representing the peacock's body will not be visible in the final drawing. But on the sketch, it is needed in order to determine where the lower limbs of the bird come from. Draw two legs at the bottom of this ellipse. Each of them should have four fingers. The most important decoration of a peacock is its tail. Sketch it in the form of a large fan.

Step 2

Focusing on the rough outline, outline the head, neck and chest of the peacock in one smooth line. Paint the inner area of the resulting shape with blue. Draw a small brown semicircle down from the chest to represent the bird's right wing. The left wing extends from the lower body line. Make it slightly larger and lighter than the right one.

Step 3

Draw the base of the tail as a slightly open fan of nine stripes. Draw many small feathers on each strip. The lower feathers should slightly overlap the upper ones. Paint the base of the tail green. If you wish, you can lighten its edges slightly. Make the rest of the tail a dark green.

Step 4

Peacock feathers are beautiful and colorful. Draw the nib shaft as a thick line. Draw a large green circle at the top of it. Add a smaller gray circle inside it. Draw some more circles in the same way. First green, then brown and blue-gray. Within the latter, draw a blue, inverted water lily leaf. The drawing should resemble a lollipop. Surround the feather with a lot of green curved lines. They will simulate a fan.

Step 5

Fill the dark green area with several rows of feathers described in the previous step. Small feathers should be adjacent to the base of the tail, and larger ones should be located closer to its edge. The point of each feather is directed towards the body of the bird. Erase guide lines from the head, neck and chest of the peacock.

Step 6

Draw a beak in the form of a triangle with arched sides to the lower left part of the head. Draw a dark gray leaf-like nostril in the middle of the beak. Paint the beak itself in a gray shade. Shade the middle part of the head with green. Draw a thick dark green line where the head and neck meet. Next, draw the peacock's eye. Add a brown oval to the middle of the head. In it, draw a smaller black circle. In the upper left part of the black pupil, put a light highlight. Surround the eye with two elongated white leaves.

Step 7

The peacock has a crest on its head. To depict it, draw seven short lines from the top of the head. At the end of each line, draw a small blue oval. It remains to arrange the legs of the peacock. Draw out the outlines of the limbs so that they become a little thicker. Color them light brown.
