In order to draw the texture of the rocks well, you need pencils of various degrees of softness, a very good quality eraser and a little time. And if you practice, you can get a drawing that will look very professional.

It is necessary

  • -paper;
  • -pencil;
  • -eraser.

Instructions

Step 1

Draw the outline of the rocks with a pencil. These are not just zigzags or oval lines - rocks somewhere form sharp triangles, somewhere they are rounded. It is best to look at a photograph of the rocks and take it as a basis. You can find the image on the Internet, just use the search engine.

Step 2

Now decide from which side the light falls on the rocks. Take a close look at the photo - the image is not monotonous, some parts of it are lighter, and some are darker. Where there is no light at all, the drawing is almost black. Therefore, you will need pencils of varying degrees of softness. At first, you can shade the entire surface evenly without pressing the pencil too hard to get a light gray surface. Then paint over the shadow areas with a thicker pencil. The strokes should lie so as not to break the geometric shape of the surface of the rocks. That is, if, for example, somewhere the top of a rock is flat, then this flat space is emphasized by horizontal lines.

Step 3

After you finish working on the darkest fragments, paint in the less darkened areas, the so-called penumbra. In this case, you should press the pencil less intensely, but the color should be darker than the general background.

Step 4

Those places on which the sun color falls should glare. Create highlights with the eraser - just sweep it over the desired areas of the rocks, highlighting them. Again, while working with an elastic band, try not to disturb the geometric shapes of the pattern - leave horizontal stripes on horizontal sections, and vertical stripes on vertical sections.

Step 5

On the bottom of the rocks, you can put grass or paint stones. The rocks themselves can be highlighted on the sheet by shading the space around them. The direction of the background strokes must differ from the direction of the strokes in the drawing itself, otherwise they will merge with the background, and will not be selected from it.
