The shawl collar looks great on both women's and men's clothing. This is a straight collar that can be knitted in several ways. It can be knitted separately and sewn to the finished product with a knitted seam, but much more often the shawl collar is performed simultaneously with the shelf or is tied from the edge loops with a transverse pattern. This detail looks especially impressive on thick, soft yarns.

Step 1
Model a pattern. Determine the width of the plank. Divide the resulting measurement by 2. Set aside this value in both directions from the middle of the front. If a product with a fastener is supposed and there is only half of the shelf on the pattern, set aside a half measure from it inside the part. Extend the plank the same distance in the opposite direction.
Step 2
Mark the location of the buttonholes or buttons. The location of the top button depends on the style. This is also the starting point of the shawl collar. Divide the distance between this point and the bottom edge of the shelf into an equal number of parts. It depends on how many buttons you are going to sew on.
Step 3
On the line of the plank opposite the top hole, put point 1, and mark the intersection of the neckline and shoulder line as 2. Connect them with a straight line. From point 2, set aside the size of the sprout up the same straight line. It can be from 5 to 8 cm, depending on the size of the clothes and the width of the collar. Put point 3. Draw a perpendicular to it towards the neck and mark the width of the collar on it. This will be point 4. Draw a line for the collar by connecting points 1 and 4 with a smooth curve. This pattern is suitable for any collar-making method.
Step 4
To knit a shawl collar at the same time with the shelf, calculate the loops by adding half the width of the strap to the half of the shelf. The placket and collar can be made in this case with garter stitch, front or purl stitch. It depends on the main drawing. If it is performed mainly with front loops, then for finishing it is better to take a pattern based on purl loops and vice versa.
Step 5
Tie to the first hole. When knitting at the same time, it is better to perform horizontal loops. Close several loops in one row, and in the next cast on the same number. Make sure that the hinges are strictly one above the other. Having tied to the top loop, start knitting the collar. The classic shawl can be executed almost straight, it is only necessary to correctly execute the line of its connection with the part. To do this, in each row, decrease the number of loops on the main part by 1 and increase the collar row by the same amount.
Step 6
Having tied up to the neckline, begin to decrease along the outer edge of the collar, 1 loop in every fourth row. Along the inner edge in the same rows, add 1 loop each, but not by reducing the number of loops on the main part, but using yarns. In the remaining rows, continue to decrease the loops of the main pattern and add their number on the bar.
Step 7
Tying to the shoulder line, follow the bevel. When only the collar loops remain on the needles, continue to knit, adding loops from the middle of the shelf and subtracting from the shoulder in every fourth row. Tie to the height of the sprout and close the loops. In a mirror image, tie the second shelf.
Step 8
Tie the back to the top edge, then go to the pattern with which you knitted the placket and collar on the shelf, and knit in a straight line to the height of the sprout. Sew the details with a knit stitch. In the same way, you can knit the collar separately from the rest of the details.
Step 9
To cross-knit the collar, reduce the number of stitches required for the front by half the placket width. Knit with a straight fabric to the height of the top button, then from the side of the fastener, start lowering the loops 1 in each row or 2 through the row, as when knitting raglan. Bevel the shoulder and close the remaining loops. Tie the second shelf and back.
Step 10
Type on the circular knitting needles for the placket and collar, knitting them from the hem braids. How many loops will turn out depends on the thickness of the threads and knitting needles. The main thing is that the bar lies flat, does not shrink or dangle. The number of loops on both sides must be the same. This version of the strap and collar can be made, for example, with an elastic band. The front and back stitch, garter stitch are appropriate. Tie to the intended middle of the placket and make holes for the buttons. In this case, vertical hinges are more convenient. Close at an equal distance from each other the same number of loops, in the next row, pick them up and knit to the end of the plank. Close the loops along the entire length.
Step 11
Schalke can be modeled. For example, make the collar slightly wider than the classic one. Close the loops in several steps, first from the bottom line of the shelves to the height of the upper button and loop, then after a couple of rows - 10-20 loops on each side at the junction of the collar and placket. Work 2 more rows and close the rest of the loops.
