Instructions
Step 1
For sewing a skirt in a fold, dense plain fabrics or material in a cage are suitable. These can be woolen or blended fabrics. They hold the folds best. You can also sew a skirt from cotton fabrics and linen.
Step 2
A skirt pattern with circular or opposing pleats can be built directly on the fabric. To do this, you need to measure the circumference of the hips and the length of the skirt. Multiply your hip measurement by 3 to get the desired cut width. For example, the owner of hips with a volume of 100 cm will need material 300 cm wide to sew a pleated skirt. Since the usual footage is 1.5 m, you will need to purchase a cut length equal to the measurement of the length of the skirt, multiplied by 2 plus 15 cm by the belt, seam allowances and hem.
Step 3
Spread the fabric on a smooth, level surface. Set aside the measurement of the length of the garment along the hem and the measurement of the width of the skirt divided by 2 to the side. Mark the location of the folds. To do this, outline the panel in strips equal to the desired fold size, for example, 4 cm each.
Step 4
Stitch the side seams of the skirt and sew in the zipper. Now start to lay in the folds, aligning the marked lines. At the same time, pin them with tailor's pins at the top and bottom of the skirt. Try to keep the side seams covered with a fold.
Step 5
Iron the part thoroughly through damp gauze. So that the folds do not diverge, the craftswomen make a soapy solution, apply it to the wrong side of the fabric at the location of the fold. For the fixing agent, dissolve the soap in warm water and add one spoonful of vinegar essence to the soapy water. Dampen gauze in the solution and iron the fabric with folded folds from the inside out through it. Repeat the procedure several times to make the lines clearer.
Step 6
Sew the belt. Cut it out of the remnants of the fabric, duplicate it with adhesive interlining. Then fold the piece across and stitch to the top edge of the skirt. Sew a buttonhole on the right side of the waistband, and sew a flat button on the left side.
Step 7
Remove the tailor's pins that secure the folds. Fold the bottom of the skirt to the wrong side, first by 5 mm, and then by 1 cm, and sew close to the fold.
Step 8
Fold in the folds and sweep them by hand along their entire length. Iron them again through damp gauze and remove the basting.
