New Years, Halloween or Masquerade Balls are some of those days when everyone can afford to hide their face under a mask and become a mystery man. Pharaoh, princess, wizard or bird woman in wonderful plumage - you have the right to try on any image, you just have to choose a costume. The main task lies in choosing a mask that will help with the transformation. Such a small accessory is always difficult to find, especially when a clear picture of what you want has already formed in your head. Arm yourself with imagination and a box of handicrafts and stationery and create an original mask with your own hands.

It is necessary

  • - paper, cardboard, foil;
  • - self-adhesive metallized paper, sticky double-sided tape, hat elastic;
  • - dry sequins, confetti, beads, beads, shells, feathers;
  • - decorative tape and braid, sequins;
  • - rubber glue, glue gun;
  • - brush, stationery transparent glue, glitter hairspray.

Instructions

Step 1

Draw the shape of the glasses on a piece of ruby-colored velvet thick cardboard. Follow the layout on the wrong side so that no extra strokes are visible. Extend the edges as if mimicking Zorro's mask. Use a pointed shape, curved up or down. Extend the base for the eyes so that the slits can be made. The detail should hide your eyebrows, eyes and go over your cheekbones.

Step 2

Cut out the layout, leaving an additional 1 centimeter around the perimeter. Bring the mask up to your face and use a pencil to carefully mark the location of the eye slits. Excess cardboard can be trimmed. Using a utility knife, make two eye-shaped holes. Try to avoid chipping the cardboard.

Step 3

On one edge of the mask, secure the hat gum with glue using a pistol. Let the glue harden and try on the craft for yourself, stretching the elastic to the second edge of the mask so that it fits snugly on your head. Cut off the extra centimeters and reattach the end of the elastic to the mask. The working area of the accessory needs to be decorated so that "dirt" is not visible. Take a self-adhesive paper, free the surface from the film and attach it to the wrong side of the mask. Using scissors, carefully cut off the excess working material, while carefully pressing the area where the elastic is fixed with your fingers, trying to tightly wrap the volumetric elements with a film.

Step 4

Choose long decorative feathers to match the color of the cardboard, as well as contrasting blacks. They can be either long or short. Apply rubber glue to one edge of the mask and fan out the feathers, pressing the bases of the feathers tightly together. Make sure that the glue is liquid, otherwise the attachment will not be strong. Add hot glue drop by drop as you work to completely lay out the decor.

Step 5

Attach a brooch or large rhinestones over the base of the feathers to hide the glue. You can add ruffles from thin black lace, rolled in a circle, if the fastening is voluminous. Now spray the resulting mask with glitter polish and let it dry completely. The craft is ready.

Step 6

Another way to make a mask is to use foil. Take two layers of rectangular foil glued together with glue using the spot application. Place the material over your face and gently press down with your fingers to shape. Now spray over the shape with hairspray and gently peel off the face, holding the model by the edges. Place on a surface and cover the entire area of the craft with stationery clear glue using a simple brush

Step 7

Let the form harden. Apply another layer of glue, only now add dry glitter or confetti or beads on top of it to create decor at the same time. After the model has hardened, attach it to your face again, mark the eyes to make the cuts with a clerical knife. Then, with the mask attached, circle the shape you want with a marker. Cut off excess foil without damaging the edges.

Step 8

Secure the elastic using the method described above, and then complete the decor you started. Apply glue and glitter layer by layer until the surface of the mask has a uniform surface and color.
