Anyone who has just started collecting coins has to think about storing their collection. The larger the collection, the greater the need for special coin albums. These albums are beautiful and well adapted, but often too expensive. For many, this is beyond their means. You can make an album with your own hands. It's inexpensive, and if you put in the effort, the album will look beautiful. The convenience of a self-made album is that you can make cells of exactly the size that you need.
It is necessary
- - transparent files (those that are used to store documents and are sold in stationery stores);
- - binder; - A4 sheet of paper;
- - pencil;
- - paper clips;
- - soldering iron;
- - wooden or iron ruler;
- - a sharp knife;
- - stationery tape.
Instructions
Step 1
In order to make an album, take a sheet of blank paper, preferably A4 size and the denser, the better, draw it into squares of the size you need. The size of the square should be slightly larger than the size of the coin. You can make different squares for coins of different denominations and sizes. Or you can focus on the largest coin and make the same cells. Please note that after stapling the cells, their size will decrease slightly. These are the future cells of your album. Place a transparent file underneath the lined sheet and another sheet of paper underneath. Then hold all three sheets together with paper clips.
Step 2
After that, take a soldering iron, heat it well, and then slowly and carefully guide it along the lines that you drew on the first sheet of paper. For the most accurate lines, especially if you have little experience with a soldering iron, you can put a wooden or iron ruler on the line and guide the soldering iron along it. This will relieve the unevenness in case the hand suddenly trembles. Follow the same line two or three times, but be careful not to melt the file. When ready, the paper sheets will fall off.
Step 3
It usually takes time to adjust, get it right, lay straight lines and not burn the plastic file itself. Do not be discouraged if at first you will not succeed, perhaps you will spoil the first couple of sheets, but then, when you get your hand, you will succeed.
Step 4
When the sheets with cells are ready, proceed to the next step. You need to make special slots for the coins. To do this, take a sharp knife, scalpel or razor and carefully make an incision in each cell on the back.
Step 5
To prevent coins from falling out of the slots, use a transparent stationery tape - just cover the notch line after the coin is inserted. It is convenient to remove it if you need to get a coin, and it is practically invisible.
Step 6
Then place the sheets filled with coins in a suitable binder so that the notch line, sealed with tape, is on the back.
