Collecting coins (numismatics) is not a cheap hobby. To sell a rare coin, you need to find the most profitable buyer, but at the same time take precautions so as not to run into scammers. How to do it?
Instructions
Step 1
To determine the true value of a coin, you will need to first estimate it. You can find like-minded people on the Internet and ask for help by sending them a photo of the coin. You can find a coin evaluator in your city - you will have to pay for his services. When evaluating coins, as a rule, numismatists use the following criteria: - the popularity of a given coin among potential buyers. The more of these coins on the market, the lower their cost. You will have to accept this - if you do not reduce the price, the buyer will still find it cheaper, but from another seller; - the safety of the coin, the absence of severe damage on it; - the metal from which your coin was made is also taken into account. Gold coins are always more expensive than silver coins, and silver coins are always more expensive than copper ones.
Step 2
Use online trades, forums and auctions to sell rare coins. This method of selling is convenient because it does not take much time. You simply post a photo of your coin on numismatists' forums and auctions, write a description of it, name the price and wait for buyers to appear. However, you run the risk of running into scammers or thieves who specialize in this area. Therefore, you should not leave about yourself a full set of personal data and contacts for communication, as well as meet with suspicious people, or transfer the coin into the wrong hands to verify its authenticity without collateral.
Step 3
If electronic methods of sale are not to your liking, you can sell the coin on the free market in your city or regional center. You were not satisfied with the price offered there? If possible, take the coin to Moscow or St. Petersburg - prices in the regions are much lower than in the capital.
Step 4
The coin can also be exchanged at the bank. It is safer and more expedient to contact a state bank - there are no scammers, but the purchase price of the coin is lower. To make more money on a rare coin, contact a commercial bank, they will offer a higher price, but the list of accepted coins is very limited.
