Cranes are often confused with storks and herons - they look very similar in appearance. Differences appear only during the flight. To make the bird in your drawing recognizable, draw a crane hovering in the sky.

Instructions
Step 1
Place the sheet of paper horizontally. With a pencil silhouette, mark on it the place where the object will be located. Please note that the distance from it to all sides of the sheet is approximately the same.
Step 2
Count and mark on the sketch the proportional ratio of the body parts of the crane. The unit of measurement can be taken as the length of its beak. Two and a half of these units will fit in the length of the body, two in the legs, three in the left wing, and three and a half in the right. Mark these measurements with small strokes.
Step 3
Refine the lines of the sketch by checking them against the photograph. Be careful when determining the angle of inclination of the wings in relation to the horizon. In order not to be mistaken, attach a pencil to the wings in the photo, and then transfer it, without changing the angle, to the drawing. Sketch lines should be firm and crisp, but not bright. Use a 2T pencil and do not press too hard.
Step 4
Erase all auxiliary construction lines from the drawing and start coloring it. In this case, it will be convenient to fill the background with color first. Don't use pure blue - pure shades are rare in nature. Mix two or three blue variations from the watercolor set, dilute the result with plenty of water and apply to the sky with a wide brush. Try to do this quickly, before the paint on the sheet starts to dry. The strokes should be wide and in the same direction. Treat the area around the crane with a thinner brush, but have time to do this before the paint dries. Otherwise, the border between its layers will be noticeable.
Step 5
Start painting the crane itself from the lightest areas - the sides and inner side of the wing. Under the wing, tint the white with a sepia mixture and, closer to the tip of the wing, blue. Apply the blue-brown shadows at the base of the wing, on the belly and at the tail, make them warmer by adding light brown.
Step 6
Make the outer surface of the tail and wings brown with the addition of red (the corner of the right wing and the tip of the tail) and black with the addition of blue (dilute this color with water, making it very light).
Step 7
Draw part of the bird's legs in the shade with green and brown, mixed so densely that the color seems almost black. On the illuminated part - the same shade, but diluted to translucency.
Step 8
On the neck and head of the crane, make a gradation of brick brown - from reddish in the light and almost black in the shade.
