If your boyfriend has an unwanted long-sleeved shirt in your boyfriend's closet that you like, find a use for it. Breathe new life into the thing by sewing a flirty baby-doll dress from an ordinary men's shirt. The process will not take so much time, but both you and the former owner of the shirt will definitely like the result.

It is necessary

  • - rubber;
  • - scissors;
  • - sewing machine.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, button up your shirt and lay it out neatly on a large table or on the floor. Use scissors and boldly cut the shirt across at armpit level. While doing this, hold the shirt so that it does not move, and the cut line is straight on both sides.

Step 2

Now take the bottom of the shirt, which is destined to become the skirt of the future dress. Fold and sew the top edge so that the elastic can be inserted. Insert pieces of elastic (5-6cm) in the armpit area on each side, make gathers and line the elastic in the drawstring so that they cannot budge.

Step 3

From the sleeve of the shirt you will get the details for the bodice of the dress. To do this, cut off the sleeve, cut a seam from it along the length and cut off the cuff, tracing a semicircle with scissors. Cut the workpiece in half along the fold line of the former sleeve. You should be left with two cone-shaped pieces.

Step 4

On the narrow part of the cones, make darts approximately to the middle of the length of the parts, sew them.

Step 5

Work the edges of the bodice pieces, bending them twice half a centimeter, and connect the pieces, slightly overlapping one another. The bodice can now be sewn onto the bottom of the dress. First, baste the blanks for fitting. And only after that, finally sew on the parts of the dress.

Step 6

You just have to sew the straps from the remaining shirt fabric and fasten them to the dress. To do this, cut long strips 2-3 cm wide, sew them along, turn them out and iron them with a hot iron. After giving the straps the desired length, sew them to the dress: one end to the edge of the bodice, the other to the back of the dress. You can also make wider straps. Alternatively, put the strap behind the neck, sewing both ends to the bodice.

Step 7

The shirt dress is ready. Optionally, you can decorate it with a bow, flower or stylish applique.
