For many people, Bengal candles are an integral part of the New Year's holidays. Moreover, fans of pyrotechnics do not have to buy Bengal candles in the store, but make them with their own hands.

Instructions

Step 1

Choose a color for the sparklers to burn. The composition of the pyrotechnic mixture will depend on the color of combustion you choose. Candles sold in the store usually only fire white, but homemade products can burn red, yellow, green, or any other fire you choose.

Step 2

Cook the paste. To do this, take an enamel or galvanized dish and pour water into it. In cold water, you need to slowly pour starch, constantly stirring the solution. Bring the solution to a thick sour cream. Make sure that no large lumps form in it. Next, add boiling water to the solution, bringing the paste to the desired consistency. Filter the resulting paste. It is recommended to use it no later than a day after preparation.

Step 3

Prepare a pyrotechnic mixture. Regular white candles can be made from 6 parts by weight of potassium nitrate, 1 weight. including sulfur, 1 wt. including stearin and 3 wt. including sulphurous antimony. To get red fire, you need to mix 1 weight. including magnesium or aluminum powder, 5, 5 wt. including potassium chlorate, 4, 5 wt. including wet strontium nitrate and 3 wt. including iron filings. You can get yellow fire by mixing 1 weight. including magnesium or aluminum powder, 5 wt. including wet potassium chlorate, 3 wt. including sodium oxalate and 3 wt. including iron filings. A mixture of sawdust, powder and salt must be ground in a mortar. You can buy everything you need to make the mixture at any store that sells chemical reagents and laboratory equipment.

Step 4

Prepare several pieces of wire approximately 1mm thick. Bend the end of each piece of wire, making a hook in this way. This wire is the base of the Bengal candle, so it must be long enough (at least 15 cm).

Step 5

Pour the resulting pyrotechnic mixture into the paste and mix thoroughly. Then pour the solution into a tall glass or any other container. Dip the pieces of wire in the solution, dry and dip again. Continue the procedure until the thickness of the solution layer on the wire reaches 5-6 mm. Dry the items one last time and the sparklers are ready.
