Among the traditional New Year and Christmas tales, perhaps the most famous and beloved among children and adults is the tale of the Nutcracker. The characters of this fairy tale have become heroes of films, cartoons, theatrical performances, and of course, children's balls and carnivals, during which children dress up in the costumes of their favorite book and fairytale heroes. In this article, we will tell you how to make a Nutcracker carnival costume for a child for the New Year's holiday.

Step 1
In order for the costume to match the image, it must have a cocked hat with a wig, a cardboard jacket, boots, trousers, a mask and a blue shirt.
Step 2
To create a cardboard camisole, use a simple corrugated box. Also, to trim the suit, you will need a blue satin ribbon, red fabric, blue stretch fabric, golden fabric, golden ribbon 3 cm wide, golden fringe and bias tape, as well as feathers, dublerin, PVA glue, paints, buttons and white yarn.
Step 3
Sew the collar of the blue shirt to form a stand-up collar, then sew the gold buttons to the shirt.
Step 4
To make a cardboard jacket, draw the outline of the suit on the box with a pencil and cut a hole for the head in the top of the box. Cut holes for the arms in the side walls of the box. Cover the box with a cloth using PVA glue, or paint fragments of the camisole with red and blue gouache.
Step 5
A camisole covered with fabric will look more beautiful. Attach epaulettes of gold-tone fringed fabric to your shoulders. Glue a blue satin ribbon to the hem of the camisole, and then punch holes for the buttons on the front wall and fasten the buttons on the legs.
Step 6
After making the camisole, sew elastic trousers according to the child's measurements and sew a gold braid to their side seams. Sew cuffs cut from pieces of black leather to the boots.
Step 7
After that, fold out of paper or sew a three-cornered hat using a ready-made pattern and decorate the sewn hat with a golden oblique inlay. Reinforce the cap with doublerin from the inside and sew on the brim.
Step 8
Attach the feathers to the hat, then start making a wig. The wig can be taken ready-made, or it can be made from white yarn. Bundle four tubes and connect them in pairs.
Step 9
Place them at your temples, attaching them to the sides of the cocked hat. Then glue to the cocked hat the threads of yarn cut into the same length, from which you will braid the pigtail.
Step 10
The finishing touch of the costume is a paper mask, made of thin cardboard, on which you have to cut holes for the eyes and a triangle for the nose, covered with a glued tapered overlay. Draw eyebrows above the eyes, and then sew an elastic band to the mask. The suit is ready.
