Frill is a stylish option for finishing the collar or front of clothing (mainly blouses) with one or more layers of flounces. Modern designers offer a lot of freedom in using this stylish element, there are many varieties of it. A very practical option is a detachable frill, which can instantly transform a regular suit, for example, for a trip to a cafe after work. Sew a frill from a material that is unconventional for such a thing - thin felt.
It is necessary
- - thin soft woolen felt;
- - sewing accessories;
- - glue gun;
- - interesting buttons or brooches that match the style;
- - 2 simple tie clips;
- - sewing machine.
Instructions
Step 1
Print the finished pattern on the printer, having previously placed it on A3 sheet in the print settings. You can make a jabot and smaller: for this, select the A4 format
Step 2
Use tailor's pins to pin the paper pattern to the double-folded felt. Gently trace it around the outline with chalk or a thin remnant.
Step 3
Remove the paper pattern from the material and pin it off in several places with pins so that the parts do not move relative to each other during cutting. Use your tailor's scissors to cut out the frill details along the chalk lines. Try to make the cuts as even as possible, since they will not undergo further processing, and the final result will depend on this.
Step 4
Take the cut by the corners and, simply stretching them (not too much) in different directions, straighten it. In this case, one side will become wavy, and the other will become rectilinear.
Step 5
Without removing the pins, machine stitch along the inside of the helix from the corner in the wider part to the corner of the narrow part. The distance of the line from the edge is 7 mm. Start and end sewing with a machine bartack. Remove the pins from the product, carefully cut the threads.
Step 6
Unfold the stitched parts and lay them flat in front of you, wrong side up. Smooth the seam allowances with your fingernail in different directions, or very carefully run the tip of the iron straight along the seam, ironing out the allowances.
Step 7
Turn the garment right-side up and use the same thread to sew the zigzag stitch straight along the seam of both pieces. Calculate the width and density of the stitch so that it covers both allowances from the bottom and at the same time is not too noticeable.
Step 8
On the front side of the frill, sew by hand or glue with a glue gun buttons matched in color and style to the fabric used and a larger brooch (or button). You can also use other types of decoration in the design: braid, lace, beads, rhinestones - whatever you come up with
Step 9
On the seamy side of the product (top and middle), also use a pistol to glue two tie clips (or special textile fittings designed to fix accessories on clothes that are sold in specialized stores) so that the frill can be securely fastened under the collar to the clothes.
