Sabers are made of high-strength grades of steel, which are forged and polished to give it a peculiar shape and pattern. You can forge a saber yourself, having the necessary materials, tools and a little skill in stock.
Instructions
Step 1
Purchase several bars of alloy steel with varying carbon content. The average amount of carbon in steel should vary from 0.5 to 1 percent. It is desirable that such steel contains as little phosphorus and sulfur as possible. Then it will be distinguished by high strength, hardness and ductility. Such steel at high temperatures is capable of twisting into a single bar.
Step 2
Fold up your beams of steel and start forging them in a forge or anvil at very high temperatures. You will feel how it literally starts to melt. Having become soft like plasticine, steel lends itself to further processing. Forge the steel until you achieve the desired result.
Step 3
After that, start with a large file to grind the shape of your saber. The first time it will be very difficult to do, sometimes you have to subsequently bring its form to perfection. But the work is worth it.
Step 4
It is necessary to anneal the saber, since annealing increases the strength of the saber. Pierce it in the oven and then cool. A curled pattern will appear on the surface of the saber. This is a consequence of blacksmithing. On each saber, the pattern is unique, and by its symmetry on both planes of the saber, the skill of the blacksmith was always judged.
Step 5
The final stage in the manufacture of a saber is its polishing and lubrication. Sand each side of the saber with sandpaper to a perfectly smooth surface. At the end of the work, rub the blade until it shines.
