Glass mosaic looks very impressive both on the walls and in the form of paintings. With this kind of design, even the most basic interior can be transformed. At home, you can make a designer glass picture yourself.
It is necessary
- - glass or glass beads;
- - adhesive for glass (gypsum or cement);
- - glue, borax or alum;
- - base or wall.
Instructions
Step 1
First you need to decide whether you will make a separate painting on the basis or glue the glass panel directly into the wall. Please note that you can subsequently remove or re-hang the picture, and the pasted panel will have to be dismantled in case of a change in the style of the interior.
Step 2
Prepare materials for your future painting. It can be multi-colored round glass interior balls or mosaic glass, or fragments of ordinary glass. Please note that common shards require preliminary preparation - sanding of sharp edges to avoid cuts. Or make a mosaic from such fragments by completely immersing the glass in the glue mixture.
Step 3
Draw at least a rough sketch of your future painting. Ideally, of course, it is best to pre-fold this mosaic on a flat surface to see the dimensions, amount of mixture and elements.
Step 4
As an adhesive mixture, you can use gypsum or cement composition. If the mosaic is large in area, then you need to make such a composition so that it freezes more slowly than usual. This can be achieved by adding borax or alum to the composition.
Step 5
Then get to work. Apply an even layer of adhesive mixture to the substrate or wall.
Step 6
Start laying out and pressing the future mosaic in accordance with the sketch. Lay out the mosaic quickly, because the adhesive dries very quickly, despite the thickening additives.
Step 7
If you are making a large panel in size, then break it into parts. To prevent the mixture from spilling out of the space you have limited, place the solution restriction bars. After that, carefully seal up any seams between these parts, so as not to spoil the appearance of the entire mosaic.
Step 8
Then wait a little while for the glue to set and remove any protruding glue residues from the seams and from the glass itself.
