Putting eyelets on curtains is easy, but it will take patience, knowledge and time. Rings are metal and plastic, round and curly, different in color and diameter of the inner hole. They are selected to match the cornice, curtain material or furniture accessories.
Instructions
Step 1
To find out how many eyelets you need, make a calculation. There must be an even number of them so that the side edges of the curtain are directed towards the window. If you put an odd number, then the edges will look in different directions. The distance between the centers of the rings should be no more than 22 cm and no less than 15 cm, the optimal one is 18 cm. Then the folds will be even and beautiful.
The number of eyelets is equal to the width of the finished curtain minus two distances from the center of the first eyelet to the side edge of the curtain, divided by 18. Add one to this value.
For example: you have a curtain 3 meters wide. The outer diameter of the ring is 75 mm. The hem of the side edge of the curtain is 2, 2 cm. The calculation will be as follows: (300 cm - 2 x 6, 3 cm): 18 cm + 1 = 16, 9 pcs. But the number of eyelets must be even, so round up to 16 or 18. If you take 16 elements, then the distance between their centers will be: (300 cm - 2 x 6, 3 cm): (16 - 1) = 19.6 cm, if 18, then (300 cm - 2 x 6, 3 cm): (18 - 1) = 16, 9 cm. Note that the greater the distance, the larger the folds will be.
Step 2
To install the eyelets, you will need a duplicate material to make the top of the curtain tight, then the folds will be clearly pronounced, and the top of the canvas will not sag. To do this, you can use a special tape or doublerin, but the width of the tape should be slightly wider than the outer diameter of the rings.
Step 3
To make the fabric look beautiful on such fasteners, calculate the drapery ratio. If on the cornice the draped curtain occupies 1 meter, then in the unfolded state its width should be 2 - 2, 5 meters.
Step 4
Calculate the required height. Let's say you need to sew curtains with a height of 250 cm, to this height add a double hem for the eyelets, you get 280-290 cm.
Step 5
You have acquired everything you need. Prepare an iron, a simple pencil or chalk, scissors or a special punch (they cut holes for eyelets). Place the rings on the finished curtain. Glue the top of the curtain with a special eyelet tape according to the diagram. Place the tape inside the fold and iron with an iron. It will stick.
Step 6
Sew the bottom edge of this fold. Mark with chalk where the eyelets will be installed. Trace the inner diameter of the rings and cut out the holes. Please note that the edge of the hole must be completely hidden inside the mount, if the holes are larger, then the element cannot be installed.
The holes must be the same in all layers of the fabric. Install the rings by pushing on both sides until they click.
