Unfortunately, not every person who is fond of spearfishing can choose equipment to their liking. Most of the commercially available guns are crossbows. But the accuracy of their battle does not always suit the hunters. And more accurate spring guns are practically not produced by the domestic industry. One of the possible solutions in this situation is to independently manufacture a spring gun.

It is necessary

  • - duralumin tube;
  • - wire;
  • - wooden or aluminum plates for the handle;
  • - steel bar;
  • - lathe;
  • - vice;
  • - cutter or file

Instructions

Step 1

Make a gun barrel from a duralumin tube. For these purposes, a ski pole is quite suitable. The recommended barrel length is 60-75 centimeters.

Step 2

Cut threads from both ends of the barrel. Make a groove for the sear. The length of the groove should be between 15 and 17 cm - this will allow you to regulate the force of the strike by moving the handle along the barrel.

Step 3

Drill holes in the barrel - they will serve for a quick and unhindered exit of water.

Step 4

Make a duralumin plug and muzzle. Drill a hole for the harpoon in the plug - through it the harpoon will be inserted into the barrel during transportation.

Step 5

Take a wire brand PC, 65G or OBC. Wire diameter - 2 mm. Wind a spring out of it using a lathe. The length of the spring should be 25-30 cm longer than the barrel of your gun. This is due to the fact that the spring works in compression and after the first few shots, its length will decrease by 15-20%. Heat the spring, and then treat it with an anti-corrosion coating. It should be remembered that making a spring is a rather complicated process. Therefore, if you are not confident in your abilities, then it is better to seek help from a professional turner.

Step 6

Make a handle. Take the plates and, holding them in a vice, drill a hole corresponding to the diameter of the barrel. Cut out the outline of the handle. Use a file or router bit to make a trigger hole in each insert. The sampling depth is 3.5 mm.

Step 7

Connect the plates on the barrel and press them in with the screws. Place the thrust washer in front of the handle, securing it with the pressure screw. This will prevent the grip from sliding along the barrel.

Step 8

Make a trigger, springs, safety catch and sear for the trigger. The safety catch is a base that turns with a flag and locks the trigger. Temper the sear.

Step 9

Make a harpoon. The best material for manufacturing is considered to be stainless steel 30HGS or EI-961. The sleeve sliding on the harpoon should be cushioned by the PTFE ring and abut against the shank. A line is attached to the sleeve. Sharpen the tip to fit four or three edges. Make a wire flag - it will serve to hold the fish.

Step 10

Cut the spreader out of steel. Attach it to the barrel end cap with two screws. The gun is ready.
