For a very long time, it was believed that a ballpoint pen is not an artist's tool. Only in the nineties did the masters working in this technique begin to declare themselves. With the appropriate skills, a pen can convey details in an image as well as a pencil.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose a pen wisely. If you want to draw with lines of equal thickness, with almost no halftones, it can be gel-based. If you want to transfer semitones too, use a regular ballpoint pen. In any case, choose a tool of a brand that does not leak.
Step 2
Remember that drawing ink will use up much faster than simple writing. In order not to go broke, do not change the handles themselves, but the rods in them.
Step 3
Remember one feature of a fountain pen that a pencil lacks. If you touch the drawing with your palm, and then touch it again in a different place with the same palm, you get an ugly print. Either learn to hold your palm while drawing on the weight (not everyone succeeds), or choose stubble that has this effect is minimal. Scan these patterns after drying, otherwise traces will remain on the scanner glass.
Step 4
Learn not to be wrong. Unlike graphite, paste cannot be erased with an ordinary eraser. A special eraser for pens is ineffective, since it erases the paste by wiping the sheet almost through.
Step 5
Learn to render semitones. If the pen is not gel, you can change both the pressure and the density of the strokes for this purpose. It is highly desirable to make them predominantly vertical above the dividing line of the object plane, and horizontal below it.
Step 6
Paint in color if desired, although your palette will be quite limited. It can be composed of three or even two colors. You can combine any dark colored pen with a simple pencil. Fountain pens with several pens, which are extended in turn using a special mechanism, are very convenient. If you use gel pens, your palette can, on the contrary, be very rich. For them, there are refills even with metallic inks. But it is not recommended for male artists to make the palette too bright.
