American animator, director, screenwriter and actor Bob Peterson can rightfully be called the legend of modern animation. His best works were the cartoons "Up", "Finding Nemo", "Finding Dory", "Cars", "The Good Dinosaur". Peterson is also known as a storyboard artist.
As a child, Robert James, known as Bob Peterson, often changed cities, roaming with his family. In addition to him, the parents had three more children.
Searching for a vocation
The biography of the future celebrity began in 1961. The boy was born in the city of Worcester on January 18. The kid was fond of drawing from an early age. He even created his own cartoon "Loco motive". The script for it was composed by the author himself. However, Bob did not think seriously about such creativity as a profession. He was much more attracted to technology.
After graduating from school, Peterson decided to receive further education at Ohio Northern University. He chose engineering as a profession. During his studies, the student began to attend computer graphics courses. It was then that he learned about computer animation and became interested in it.
In 1983, Bob continued to improve his skills during his studies at Purdue University. In 1985, the young man was invited to take part in a conference. For the first time, Peterson heard a report from John Lasseter, in which he proposed to combine Disney animation with computer graphics. Attracted by this idea, Bob decided to work with the speaker.
Peterson received his Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1986. Then there was work in several tech companies. And in 1994 he finally began his collaboration with Pixar Animation Studios. The first professionally created cartoon by him was in 1997 "Jerry's Game". In the short film, Bob voiced the main character.
The action of the joint work with Lassiter begins in an autumn deserted park. A lonely old man plays chess with himself. However, he manages to create the impression that the party is being led by completely different people. The white player is indecisive and meek, while the black player is impudent and self-confident. The cartoon received high marks from viewers and critics.
First achievements
The animator also tried his hand on the set. He played himself in the Kinoloft telenovela in 2001.
In 2001, work on "Monsters, Inc." was completed. In the new cartoon, Bob again appeared in the role of director of work control and screenwriter. He is also voiced by Rose. His chanting voice became such a successful option that instead of intending to leave it only for rough cut, it was decided to "present" the character with the same voice in the final version.
The heroes of the film history itself must scare the kids in order to get electricity from their screams. However, even the world of monsters has its own problems. Peaceful life ends with the appearance of a child in their life. Even the monsters themselves could not imagine such a number of troubles and problems that a baby who has arrived from the world of people will deliver them.
The 2003 film "Finding Nemo" became a new success. In it, Peterson was both a director, a screenwriter and an actor. His character was Mr. Ray. In the story, the clown fish Marlin lives in the sea next to the Great Barrier Reef with his son Nemo.
The father, as best he can, protects the only child from the possible dangers of the ocean. However, out of curiosity, Nemo decides to learn more about the mysterious world. Marlene goes in search of her son in the company of the kind-hearted Dory.
New successes
After the famous "Incredibles", "Cars", where Bobo again acted as an actor, in 2007 work was completed on the cartoon "Ratatouille" about a talented rat-cook who made his dreams come true. In the film, Peterson performed the work of the screenwriter and author of the idea.
The plot was also invented by Peterson for the film "Up", on the basis of which the video game of the same name was later created. Old grumbler Karl Fredrickson doesn't like his life. He decides to take a balloon flight in his own house. However, very soon the traveler realizes that a very sociable little Russell is flying with him. Bob participated in the work both as a director and as an actor.
The "Good Dinosaur" in 2015 is also considered a success. As conceived by the creators, people remained at a very primitive level of development. Dinosaurs, on the other hand, have become very intelligent creatures. They are not extinct, but live quietly on Earth. The picture tells about the friendship of a human kid and a dinosaur.
The following year, the audience was offered the project "Finding Dory". Bob also took part in the development of the plot, as well as in the continuing "marine theme" "Pixar" "Finding Dory: An Interview on Marine Life" video.
Plans and prospects
The main character was the already familiar Nemo Dory on the journey. The blue surgeon fish is characterized by benevolence and unprecedented forgetfulness. The good man seeks to conquer his illness and find a family. And then almost all the most famous inhabitants of the ocean tell about their acquaintance with him.
In 2019, Peterson's script and production of Wilkins Asks Questions began showing. The main character understands everything. He is occupied with all the world's problems, and pressing issues are not at all indifferent. According to the tradition already established in cooperation with Pixar, Bob also acted as an actor.
In total, the animator has created over 20 cartoons. Also, the animalist took part in the scoring of the 82nd Oscar awards ceremony. He continues to work at Pixar Studios.
Bob says nothing about his personal life. He is fully convinced that the private should remain so. The director and screenwriter does not intend to make his being the property of the audience at all.
