A dugout is a dwelling made in the ground. You can live quite comfortably in it and even spend the winter. After the Great Patriotic War, hundreds of thousands of people lived in dugouts for more than one year. Making a dugout correctly is a real art. But when the house in the ground is ready, it will allow you to save on heating in winter and save yourself from the heat in summer.
It is necessary
Door, beams 50X100X5000, lining boards, floorboards, roofing felt, nails, polystyrene sheets
Instructions
Step 1
First, you need to choose a place for the dugout and mark its outer perimeter on it. To keep the corners straight and the sides even, you need to drive in pegs in the corners and stretch a rope between them. Then you should remove the sod from the selected square or rectangle. Now you can start digging - to a depth of at least 1 m 70 cm. You can dig a hole with an excavator, but the floor and walls should be leveled with a shovel. Walls should have a slight negative slope. It is also necessary to dig down slopes to the entrance and window, they should be gentle.
Step 2
When the hole is ready, it is necessary to dig into the corners along a vertical bar - to a depth of 50 cm. From above, the bar should be flush with the floor. Since the walls were made with a negative angle, there was a distance between the timber and them. It must be upholstered with floorboards. Then you should attach the door and window frames at the planned locations. Roofing material should be placed on top of the boards, all voids should be covered with earth and tamped well.
Step 3
Now we need to take care of the roof. To do this, dig in the beams in the middle of the front and rear walls, as well as in the middle of the room, half the distance between these walls. The bars should stick out of the ground to the height you want. They must be connected to each other with another horizontal bar - the ridge of the roof. You also need to fix the horizontal beams on the side walls of the dugout. Between the bars, you need to make logs, putting them with one end on horizontal bars fixed along the walls, and with the other on a horizontal bar in the middle. A lining should be nailed to this frame, roofing material should be put on it. From above it is necessary to put the removed sod on the roof - it will give excellent thermal insulation. From the inside, the ceiling can be sheathed with clapboard or plywood, not forgetting to lay the foam for heat between the outer and inner sheathing.
Step 4
Any floor can be made. But first, you should lay the beams-lags. The logs must be leveled with a hammer and level, and then other material, for example, chipboard, must be nailed onto them. You can put a rug on top to keep it warm.
