Navaga is a medium-sized fish from the cod order. The largest specimen can weigh up to 700 g. It is found in the north of Russia. In the spring, the fish goes to a depth, so it is better to catch it from the middle of autumn, when it returns closer to the surface of the water.
It is necessary
Fishing rod, line, spoon, sinker, bait, ice drill
Instructions
Step 1
The best period for fishing for navaga is from November to March. Choose a day, it should be calm, with normal atmospheric pressure, because in bad weather, this fish becomes lethargic and does not bite well.
Step 2
First you need to prepare the gear. Take a fishing rod with a line thickness of 0, 2-0, 3 mm and a hook from No. 3 to No. 8. The length of the line must be at least 25 meters. navaga is more often at depth. Prepare a few different lures with a yellow sheen. In the process of fishing, the spoon will need to be changed to find out which navaga bites better. Be sure to prepare your lead. It is better if it is elongated and weighs 30-50 grams. The length of the rod does not play a big role, for winter fishing it can be made even 20 cm long.
Step 3
The bait also requires special preparation. Of course, navaga can peck at an ordinary worm. But it's better to prepare a special bait. An excellent option would be mussel meat. If there is any pier near the fishing spot (it can even be abandoned), come to it, check all the supports that are in the water. Remove all found mussels, warm them up (you can even use a lighter). Open the shutters, take out the meat (it will be slightly yellowish, which is very good for catching navaga), cut into pieces and use as bait. Other options for fishing for navaga are raw meat, pieces of raw fish (especially smelt), pieces of bacon, or sea worm. If you are using artificial bait, use a yellow or green silicone bait.
Step 4
For ice fishing, drill a hole away from the shore, its width should be about 30 cm. Remove all ice from the hole with a scoop or any other handy object. Submerge the line in the water to its full length. When fishing for navaga, be sure to twitch the fishing rod, this fish is a predator and it is better to bite on moving objects.
Step 5
If you fish during the warmer months, use a boat; you are unlikely to catch a navaga from the shore. After casting your rod, play with the fishing line. Find a certain pace that will give you the best results. Navaga bites hard and hard, so be prepared and don't let go of the rod. It is necessary to hook this fish quickly, not allowing it to go to the depth.
