The world of birds is incredibly diverse, so drawing them is a pleasure. However, if you are just starting your experiments in the image of birds, it is easiest to start with pigeons - they have a rather ordinary look, besides, it will not be difficult to observe them and even try to draw from nature.

Step 1
Look at the photo of a pigeon, pay attention to the features of the proportions of this bird. The pigeon has a large body and a small round head on a short neck. The loose pigeon tail has a fan-shaped shape, in white doves it is more delicate. The open wings of a pigeon have a span twice the length of its body. Blue pigeons living in the city can have a very different color - they are gray, with white and even brown spots - these spots can be reflected in the picture.
Step 2
Imagine in what position and from what angle you want to portray a pigeon. The easiest way is to draw a bird sitting sideways to you with folded wings. Draw in pencil the light edges of the pigeon's body. Draw the basic guidelines for the drawing. Then refine the drawing with rough lines - outline the head, body, tail, legs of the bird.
Step 3
For a more accurate drawing, it is better to start with the head and legs, since these are the most difficult parts of the drawing. Draw the head, beak, bird's eye, legs and claws. Consider in the photographs what the legs of birds look like and what proportions they need to be in order to look natural. Then sketch out the large feathers on the wing and tail. Draw a perfectly round eye. The pigeon's beak should point slightly downward. Notice that the lower legs of the pigeons are also covered in feathers.
Step 4
Shade with a soft pencil the places where the shadow will fall - neck, tail, wing, shaded areas of feathers.
Step 5
Use a hard pencil to carefully work through all the small details. When working with a pencil, details are very important - draw in thin lines all the feathers, folds of skin on the legs, add a glare to the eye. Be sure to erase all construction lines so they don't dirty your drawing.
Step 6
After you finish your first drawing, try depicting the pigeon in different poses and from different angles. Bird photography and live pigeon watching in a nearby park will help you again.
