It is not uncommon for a photograph to have the wrong object in the field of focus. This is a focusing error that can happen either through our fault or due to a breakdown of the camera.

Step 1
The focusing process is very important. This optics setting determines which objects in the frame will be in the field of focus. A blurry photo with inaccurate focus, if not a special idea, can be considered a technical defect. Focusing systems are becoming more and more modern and accurate, but, nevertheless, among the mass production equipment there is a serious number of incorrectly working copies.
Step 2
Whether you are using a DSLR or compact model, there are a number of focusing methods. Much of their application depends on the situation and subject of focus.
Step 3
The most convenient and fastest way is automatic focusing. When using the compact, switch to automatic mode, denoted by "A", green triangle, or a preset for a specific situation: portraits, night photography, children, animals, and so on. Press the shutter button halfway. On the screen of the camera, squares will indicate objects that fall into the field of focus. If the camera is focused correctly, press the button all the way down. If you choose the wrong objects, try repeating the steps, first slightly changing the shooting point. You should not use the manual focusing mode in cameras of this level, most often it is very inconvenient, and you risk making the sharpness setting incorrect.
Step 4
When using SLR systems with interchangeable lenses, the function of manual selection of the focus point with automatic metering of other indicators, as well as tracking focus for shooting fast-moving objects, is added to the previous autofocus option. Set the switches on the body of the camera and lens to the appropriate positions. Look through the viewfinder and use the control levers to move the focus point to the subject you want. It should be noted that in modern mirror systems, Live View technology is increasingly being used. Using this mode, you can observe focusing on the camera screen, while the optical viewfinder does not work. This method makes focusing in the dark more convenient and is very helpful for people with low vision. When shooting in dim lighting, make sure the AF-assist beam is turned on in the camera settings.
Step 5
Unfortunately, many lenses are sold unadjusted. The focusing problem may be due to inaccuracy in this setting. Contact an official service for diagnostics.
Step 6
There are a number of situations in which autofocus tends to fail. The priority for focusing will be an object with a repeating pattern and high contrast. For example, when you aim the camera at a lion in a cage, autofocus can "catch" on the bars of the cage, and not on the lion. Do not select objects for focusing that are smaller than the area of the marker. Read the detailed descriptions of these situations in the manual of your camera.
Step 7
If auto focus fails or cannot be used in the scene, use manual mode. In lenses with an ultrasonic motor, it is enough to adjust the corresponding setting ring after half-pressing the shutter release button. The focus mode on such lenses is marked as A / M, which means that manual (manual) adjustment is possible, despite the fact that only the automatic mode is enabled on the camera. In models without an ultrasonic motor, before manual focusing, the equipment will have to be switched to the appropriate control mode, most often marked as M.
