A synthesizer is an electronic keyboard musical instrument built on the principle of a piano, that is, having an evenly tempered (tuned) keyboard. Therefore, the keyboard itself does not need tuning, unlike strings or wind instruments. The concept of tuning a synthesizer includes the selection of samples for a specific track, splitting the keyboard into two or more zones that play in a certain tuning, etc.
Instructions
Step 1
Before setting up your synthesizer, turn it on. First connect the power supply to the mains, then the cable to the disconnected (!) Track of the mixing console with the sound minimized. Before pressing the power button on the synthesizer, make sure that its volume is also reduced to the minimum. The volume is adjusted only after switching on, so that both the synthesizer and the mixing console will last as long as possible.
Step 2
After adjusting the volume, go ahead and adjust the samples. To do this, press the “Voice” (“Tone”) button and, using the tone numbers indicated above the keys, type the number of the desired instrument on the keyboard. The numbers and toolkits vary with models and brands, so use your guide and intuition as your guide.
Step 3
Adjust the effects: echo, reverb, tremolo and more. The location of the effect buttons also depends on the model, but most often they are located next to the number keys. Adjust the tempo of tremolation and echo.
Step 4
Setting the performance mode implies the use of an additional tone simultaneously with the main one (when you press one key, two instruments sound simultaneously), splitting (“Split” - in English “splitting”) the keyboard into two or more zones in which a certain instrument plays in a separate mode, Auto Accompaniment mode lets you play nearly complete arrangements from preset rhythms and accompaniments by pressing a chord, or create your own. Single mode is on by default and uses only one sample. Choose a mode according to your goals.
Step 5
In most cases, each keyboard player learns the instrument empirically before tuning the synthesizer, and the instruction does not always become a good helper. After purchasing the instrument, start experimenting with it, press all the keys and buttons, twist all the levers and remember the results. Subsequently, any accidentally obtained effect can be used purposefully in a particular composition.
