It is not uncommon for adults to feel the urge to play the synthesizer. Unfortunately, not everyone has enough perseverance and time to master the musical literacy. If this process is divided into stages, in a month or two you can confidently sort out unfamiliar melodies by sheet music.
Instructions
Step 1
Understand what an octave is. The keyboard of the synthesizer consists of repeating parts - octaves. In the musical literacy manuals, you will find an explanation of what these parts are called on a piano or grand piano keyboard. Memorize the names of all octaves.
Step 2
Find out which octaves the instrument covers using the synthesizer documentation. There can be a different number of octaves on the synthesizer - it all depends on the specific instrument. There must be a 1st octave - with it start counting all the others to the left and to the right. Everything is the same as on the piano, only there will be fewer octaves. Find the C key of the 1st octave. You should sit across from it when you play the synthesizer.
Step 3
Find the main and derivative sounds of the 1st octave on the synthesizer. In other words, you need to know where the 7 sounds are and the same sounds with sharps and flats. Move from the sound "C" of the 1st octave to the right on the keys: C-sharp, D, D-sharp, E, F, F-sharp, G, G-sharp, A, A-sharp, B. Now go down the 1st octave: B, B-flat, A, A-flat, G, G-flat, F, E, E-flat, D, D-flat, C. When you memorize the sounds in order, learn to find them randomly.
Step 4
Find the main and derivative sounds of the 1st octave on the staff. You will need a music book. Music staff - 5 lines on which notes are written. When playing the synthesizer, you will need to know the notes in the bass and treble clef. Using the Musical Literacy Guide, learn how to write all notes of the 1st octave in the treble clef. You will need a bass clef when you start playing with both hands.
Step 5
Parse a familiar song on the synthesizer, all notes of which are located in the 1st octave. Now the main task is to learn how to "transfer notes" from the staff to the keyboard of the synthesizer. A familiar song is used so as not to be distracted by the duration of the sounds yet. You will play the melody by ear, but press the notes that are written in the self-study guide for playing the piano or synthesizer.
Step 6
Master the musical literacy. To analyze unfamiliar melodies, in addition to the pitch of sounds, one must understand how the duration of each note is determined. First, learn the theory without an instrument, learn to count the duration of notes. Then follow the piano tutorial.
Step 7
Practice every day. Better to play 15 minutes daily than 3 hours once a week.
