Building the inner side of the character is extremely important, as through them you will introduce readers to the story of your comic.
We read comics because we want to experience sadness, hatred, joy. Characters should be empathetic. To do this, you need to get inside the character. The goal of any story is to evoke an emotional response in the viewer. How? By creating situations for the characters that will push them to their limits. Show changes within characters as a result of overcoming various troubles.
In order for a character to claim the role of the main character, he must have at least two of these qualities: he is unlucky, he wants to feel sorry for him, he gets into trouble, he is funny, he is strong and a master of his craft.
Characters have an inner side: aspiration, needs, wounds, self-identification (who they think they are), essence and truth (who they should be). Aspiration is what the character needs in words. A need is an unconscious striving. Wounds are an unhealed source of constant pain, because of this the character thinks that he is being wounded again. Self-identification is how the character sees himself: the greatest villain or the simple-minded kind person, the master chef or the journeyman.
Often, at the beginning, it is worth writing the ending in order to know how exactly the character's line will be built, how his inner side will manifest itself. It is impossible to show the essence of the hero from the very beginning. This must be done in stages, revealing one side of the character after the other.
