Step 1

A fable is a short satirical work in verse, similar in its features to a parable and an apologue. Since the fable is primarily a satire, it means that something needs to be ridiculed. Determine what kind of vice you will portray in your creation. For example, in all of Krylov's famous fable "The Crow and the Fox", flattery and its effect on humans are ridiculed. And in the fable "Monkey and Glasses" - ignorance and illiteracy. So you choose a negative phenomenon. It should be negative not for one person, but for the whole society as a whole. This problem should be clear to every reader and evoke the thought: "This is familiar to me!"

Step 2

If you have noticed, animals are the heroes of most fables. This does not mean that fabulists have anything against bears or wolves. Animals personify human flaws, and the habits inherent in animals become an additional characteristic of the heroes. This is an optional condition for writing a work, but it will not be superfluous either. Introducing the heroes into the fable, think about which of them will embody which image. For example, in the fable "The Wolf and the Lamb" Krylov depicted not just animals, but Napoleon and Kutuzov and the real historical situation in the country.

Step 3

Morality is an indispensable element of the fable. Morality occurs at the beginning or end of a work and sums up the story told. After writing a work, make the right conclusions and bring the main ideas into morality. Made fun of drunkenness? This means that morality should talk about alcoholism and emphasize its negative aspects. Made fun of stupidity? So talk about fools.

Step 4

Structure. And finally, since a fable is still a piece in verse, take care of the rhyme. The syllable should be light, understandable, rhythmic. Readers need to understand every word and every thought you say. Go for it! Try it! Be creative!
