A satin dress always looks stylish, emphasizing all the advantages of the figure. Sewing a satin dress is quite difficult even for an experienced dressmaker, since this material constantly changes shape, cut edges crumble a lot, seams can "creep", but if you follow some rules for working with a capricious fabric, you can get an excellent thing.

It is necessary

  • - pattern;
  • - material "atlas";
  • - sharp scissors;
  • - soap or chalk;
  • - a sewing machine with a sharp and fine needle.

Instructions

Step 1

Find a good pattern for your satin dress. It is very important to choose the right model, since it is difficult to sew a tight dress from this material, and a spacious dress can look like a nightgown. If the pattern is from a magazine or the Internet, transfer it to paper and cut it out.

Step 2

Find the fabric for the dress. In the store, carefully examine the fabric you like. Pull it laterally, as if trying to push the lobular fibers apart. If a gap has begun to form, a dress made of such fabric will quickly begin to creep at the seams. In no case do not take an atlas if puffs have already begun to appear on it in the store - you do not carry the finished item for two days (this is especially typical for stretch atlas).

Step 3

Place a thick fleece blanket or bedspread on the table. Lay out the satin very carefully and pin it with pins, note that you cannot navigate by a cut made in a store. Look only locks and edges of the fabric. Pin the pattern, circle with colored chalk or soap (some fabrics are difficult to remove pencil marks). Cut out the details with very sharp scissors.

Step 4

So that the edges during sewing do not diverge and do not warp, glue woven adhesive "cobwebs" along the seams, preferably knitted or non-woven fabrics (practically without going beyond the allowance).

Step 5

Install very sharp, thin needles on the sewing machine; puffs form very easily on the satin. When sewing, make sure that the seam is not pulled even slightly, as this will be immediately noticeable, and do not even hope to smooth the seam. At the same time, if the cut goes obliquely, you can overtighten the seam, and it will also look terrible. Therefore, baste all details obliquely before sewing, this will help you control the seam.
