Step 1
The color of the beret thread can be absolutely any. You can knit a beret to match any summer outfit. However, keep in mind that doctors recommend wearing light-colored clothes in the scorching heat. Choose thin cotton yarn, as it retains heat very poorly, but absorbs moisture well and allows air to pass through. It should be noted that such yarn can shrink after washing. Tie a swatch, wash and see if the yarn shrinks. Pick up the hook. The thinner the yarn, the thinner you need a crochet hook. The recommended hook number is usually indicated on the label on the skein.
Step 2
Make a paper pattern for the bottom and base of the future beret. It will be more convenient to apply a knitted fabric to it and make the necessary reductions and additions. The diameter of the bottom should be equal to about one-half of the girth of the head (that is, if the girth of the head is 56 cm, then the diameter of the bottom should be knitted 28 cm). But if you want to knit a more voluminous beret, then the diameter of the bottom will be larger.
Step 3
First, tackle the bottom of the beret. Tie a chain of three to four air loops, close them in a circle and knit an openwork bottom. As a pattern for a beret, use a knitting pattern for a napkin of the same diameter.
Step 4
Next, knit, making decreases, knitting together every ninth and tenth stitches so that the circumference is equal to the circumference of the head. This part of the beret can be knitted either with an openwork pattern or simply with single crochets, but in this case, all the beauty will be visible only from the back.
Step 5
Knit the peg with a crustacean step. It must be knitted in the same way as single crochets, only in the opposite direction from left to right. The width of the rim will only depend on your desire.
