Alexey Chadov: biography and filmography

early years

Alexey Chadov was born on September 2, 1981 in Moscow. The boy's father died of a long illness, and Lesha and his older brother Andrey were raised by his mother, who worked as an engineer. It was the brother who had a great influence on the character of Alexei, teaching him perseverance and the ability to stand up for himself. Already in his school years, Lesha became interested in the stage and entered the theater studio of Vyacheslav Kozhikhin, where he repeatedly demonstrated his talent in various productions.

After graduating from school, Alexei Chadov continued his studies at the Shchepkin Theater School, where his older brother was already studying. Both boys got on the course of Vladimir Seleznev. The need for money made Alexei get a job as a bartender in a nightclub, where he met many people and consolidated his communication skills well. Once the club was visited by representatives of the STV film company, which produced films by the talented director Alexei Balabanov. Upon learning that the younger Chadov was studying to be an actor, they invited him to the casting of the future film.

The beginning of a film career

Having visited the film studio, Alexey met Balabanov, who immediately became interested in a promising young man. They talked for a long time on various topics, after which Chadov was offered to make several trips with the film crew, which was preparing for the production of the drama "War". Alexei was not immediately informed that it was he who was approved for one of the main roles: the future actor had to try on many costumes, visit St. Petersburg and other Russian cities. Finally, he learned this good news and began to prepare for the difficult filming in Kabardino-Balkaria.

To Chadov's surprise, he was in the foreground of a serious film project with already established actors Sergei Bodrov and Ingeborgi Dapkunaite. Alexey immediately demonstrated that he was not afraid of cameras, as well as the documentary footage of military operations shown by the director. As the actor admits, he has a strong motivation to help Balabanov to make a really "strong" film about the war.

The film "War" became successful not only in Russia, but also abroad. It was shown at the Canadian Film Festival. At home, the tape was awarded the main prize of the Kinotavr festival, it was repeatedly nominated for the Nika and Golden Eagle awards. Alexey Chadov, modest and non-public by nature, instantly became famous and popular, having received many offers for interviews. And yet he remained true to his character, refusing most of the meetings. In addition, in the early 2000s, Sergei Bodrov died, and Chadov did not give details about joint filming with the actor out of respect for him.

"Night Watch" and other Russian blockbusters

In 2004, several large projects were released at once, in which the main roles were played by Alexei Chadov:

  • the drama "Games of Moths";
  • drama "American"
  • the miniseries At Anonymous Height;
  • miniseries "December 32".

In the military series "At Nameless Height" Chadov again played a military man - Kolya Malakhov, serving on the border of Belarus. In the drama Games of Moths, Alexei appeared in the form of a young recidivist, playing along with Oksana Akinshina and Sergei Shnurov. In the drama "American" and the TV series "December 32" he got roles with social connotations. All projects were warmly received by audiences and critics.

In the same year, another major film debut of the young actor took place: he played the vampire Kostya in Timur Bekmambetov's fantastic blockbuster Night Watch. Before that, Chadov had not heard about the works of the writer Sergei Lukyanenko and had not read Russian science fiction, but agreed to the role. The picture became incredibly successful at the box office. This was largely due to the efforts of Alexei and other actors, among whom were real celebrities:

  • Konstantin Khabensky;
  • Vladimir Menshov;
  • Valery Zolotukhin;
  • Gosha Kutsenko;
  • Zhanna Friske;
  • Ilya Lagutenko.

In addition, the high-budget film was full of many technical moves and special effects, becoming a real breakthrough for Russian cinema and glorifying, among other things, director Timur Bekmambetov. The film was also learned abroad. A year later, there was a sequel - "Day Watch" with the same cast. The sequel turned out to be no worse than the original and delighted fans of Russian science fiction.

Also in 2005, another film, significant for the career of Alexei Chadov, was released on the screens - "Company 9", filmed by Fyodor Bondarchuk. The tape told about the fate and exploits of several young military men who participated in the Afghan war. Together with Alexei, such future celebrities starred in it, such as:

  • Konstantin Kryukov;
  • Arthur Smolyaninov;
  • Artem Mikhalkov;
  • Ivan Kokorin.

In the same year, Chadov Jr. starred in the role of a clergyman in the film "Alive". Together with him, his older brother Andrei starred in the tape. The brothers first appeared together in one film, which turned out to be very interesting and had an important social connotation. An interesting fact is that both Alexei and Andrei are deeply religious and regularly go to church. According to Chadov Jr., faith always helps him in difficult life situations.

Another successful at the box office project of that time was the romantic comedy "Heat", in which many of Chadov's partners in filming in the "9th company" starred. By this time, Alexey is already a successful and sought-after actor, who has proven himself in various genre characters. In subsequent years, his filmography was supplemented by a variety of projects loved by the audience: "Servant of the Sovereigns", "Orange Love", "Mirage", "Love in the Big City" and others.

Alexey Chadov now

Not inclined to constant family life, Chadov Jr. several times converged and disagreed with the actress Agnia Ditkovskite, whom he met on the set of the film "Heat". In 2014, the couple had a son, Fyodor, but later they decided to leave completely. The actor maintained friendly relations with his ex-wife and continued to see the child, taking an active part in his upbringing.

Recently, Alexei Chadov can rarely be seen in high-profile films. One of the last hits with his participation was the sports drama "Hammer", in which the actor played a mixed martial arts fighter. He carefully prepared for the role, playing sports and being inspired by one of his idols - MMA champion Fedor Emelianenko. Alexey also starred in several popular television series: "Dead by 99%", "Awesome Crew" and "Captain's Operetta".
