Violets are delicate beauties that are often considered one of the most unpretentious indoor plants. In fact, it takes a lot of effort to get a beautiful and abundantly flowering violet bush.
Instructions
Step 1
Violets do not like direct sunlight, but they require a lot of light. If one of the windows of your apartment faces north, place flower pots on this particular window sill. Windows well-lit by the sun can be curtained with thick tulle.
Step 2
It is a mistake to think that a cropped kefir box and a spoonful of earth from the front garden are enough for a violet. However, too large pots will not do any good either. The ideal option are containers with a height of 10-12 centimeters and approximately the same diameter.
Step 3
The secret of blooming violets is in a good drainage system. Expanded clay in a pot should be poured at least a third of the total volume. It's a good idea to put in a piece of charcoal and only then pour the earth. Violets are not too whimsical to the ground. You can buy special soil for violets at a flower shop, or you can buy any common mixture for flowering houseplants.
Step 4
Watering is one of the most important factors in proper care. It is better to use slightly warm, previously settled water. There are too many impurities in the tap water that can kill the plant. Water the violets from the bottom. Take a deep bowl, pour warm water and put a pot of violets in it. The more water, the better, but you cannot allow overflow over the edge of the flower pot. If there is a need to feed the plant, add the nutrients directly to the water for irrigation.
Step 5
The violet should be watered about once a week. The pot in a bowl of water should stand for about 6-8 hours (you can leave it overnight). During this time, the soil is completely saturated. Once the ground at the base of the leaves becomes wet, watering is complete.
Step 6
It is worth fertilizing the violet throughout the entire flowering period, but not too often (about once every 3-4 weeks). Suitable fertilizers (special for violets or basic for flowering plants) can be purchased at the flower shop.
Step 7
A constant increase in the volume of the pot is not required for violets. It is enough to take the plant out of the pot once a year, shake off the old soil and plant the violet in the same container, but with new soil.
Step 8
Whether it is necessary to spray violets or not is a moot point. Florists cannot come to a consensus. Many lovers of these plants simply take the flowerpots to the bathroom several times a year and pour warm water over the plants from the shower (the pressure should not be too strong so as not to damage the leaves and flowers). Then you should leave the flowers in the bathroom while the excess water drains off. The leaves should dry out. If a bright light falls on wet leaves, then after a while you will notice ugly spots on them.
Step 9
To make the violet look beautiful, you should periodically get rid of excess leaves. To do this, you can carefully remove the lowest, closest to the ground, leaves, forming a beautiful rosette. Damaged, yellow and dried leaves should also be torn off mercilessly. So that you have a beautiful symmetrically overgrown bush, you should turn the pot with the plant from time to time: then one side to the light, then the other.
