Puppet theater is a fascinating and interesting art that will not leave indifferent either adults or children. With the help of a puppet theater, you can act out a variety of performances, scenes and fairy tales using various puppets - glove puppets, finger puppets, dolls made of wood and papier-mâché are suitable for the theater. However, staging a puppet theater is impossible without appropriate decorations. In a puppet theater, this is a screen. You can make a screen for a puppet theater with your own hands.

It is necessary

You will need two or three rolls of any wallpaper, a cord or long rope, a lot of corrugated cardboard boxes and five liters of PVA glue. You will also need a breadboard knife, long ruler, tape measure, scissors, awl, wide brush, and fabric

Instructions

Step 1

Determine how tall your screen will be - it depends on your height and the type of dolls. The doll should rise two-thirds of its height above the screen, and you should not have difficulty raising your hand above the screen. You should not be visible from behind the screen - in accordance with this rule, shape its height.

Step 2

Cut the cardboard boxes into sheets and fit the front of the screen out of them. To prevent the screen from deforming, glue several layers of corrugated cardboard - then the structure will be strong and stable.

Step 3

Place the sheets of cardboard end-to-end so that the corrugated strips go in one direction. Place the next layer of cardboard so that the corrugation strips go across the previous ones. This will give the structure even more strength. Glue the sheets by smearing them with PVA glue and pressing them together. In total, you should have three to four layers of cardboard sheets.

Step 4

After gluing the 4-layer cardboard board together, lay it on the floor and walk over it with flat shoes to smooth the board surface. Only lift the slab off the floor the next day after the adhesive is completely dry. Having made the front side of the screen, proceed to making the sides and sides.

Step 5

Make the folds of cardboard for attaching some sheets to others in single layers. Also make the upper arch of the screen from three-layer cardboard and dry it. After that, make the back wall of the screen to secure the decorations and fasten the sides of the screen together.

Step 6

After all parts of the screen (front apron, back wall and sides) are dry, start assembly. Not only glue the joints with glue, but also sew with large stitches using an awl and a strong lace. Place the stitching holes far enough apart to avoid tearing the cardboard.

Step 7

Fasten both side walls, then fold the screen with the flaps inward and iron the joints. Cover the sashes of the screen with wallpaper or colored paper, both from the inside and from the outside. Choose not too bright wallpaper for pasting, on which the pattern is not very pronounced - this is necessary so that the wallpaper does not distract attention from what is happening on the stage.

Step 8

After the wallpaper dries, trim the edges of the screen window with a wallpaper border. Cover the back wall of the screen with white paper or wallpaper, with the wrong side up. Place the screen upright after it is completely dry and determine how stable its structure is.
