It is easy enough to learn to play the glasses, but it takes years of practice to play serious music. The professional musician playing the glass harp can even perform the J. S. Bach fugu.
It is necessary
Table, a set of 24-36 glasses made of thin glass of different sizes, tape for fixing the glasses, water and clean hands
Instructions
Step 1
For the first time, descriptions of playing on wine glasses appeared in China in the 12th century, and in 1740 professional performances using a glass harp appeared.
Nowadays, like four centuries ago, the glass harp (another name is crystallophone) is a chromatic instrument with a sounding range of 2-3 octaves. Playing glasses can be customized by machining or simply adding water. Professional musicians play on specially machined glasses without water.
The glass harp part can be found in Mozart's symphonies, in Pink Floyd concerts, and in the music of Boris Grebenshchikov.
Step 2
To create a glass harp, select cognac or wine glasses made of thin glass of different sizes. Fix them well on the table with double-sided tape. Fill the glasses with water, the water level should be different. The higher the water level, the higher the sound. You can tune your harp in the form of a scale (this is more convenient), but not necessary.
Step 3
After adjusting, wash your hands and degrease your fingers. It will be difficult to produce clean sound without clean hands. When your hands are clean, you need to wet your fingertips. The skin should be slightly soggy. Then, with a light circular motion, sounds from the glasses are extracted. The movements should be light and sliding, without unnecessary tension.
Step 4
If you run a clean, damp finger along the edge of a wine glass, you get a sound reminiscent of a woman's voice. A piece of music performed with a glass harp sounds mesmerizing - the sound cannot be compared with anything else. It is important to remember - you need to drive along the edge of the glass with a relaxed hand, periodically wetting your fingers. A little patience and training, and who knows - maybe you have a chance to become one of the few professionals in the glass game.
