The Russian serial Escape, filmed as an adaptation of the American TV series of the same name Prison Break, was first shown on Channel One in 2010. After the overwhelming success with the audience, the film crew proceeded to continue the film.

Step 1
In preparation for the filming of Escape, the scriptwriters of the Russian version made some adjustments to the original storyline of the American series. So, if in the United States one of the main characters is imprisoned for allegedly killing the vice president's brother and sentenced to an electric chair, then in the domestic analogue of the film, the hero faces a lethal injection for the murder of the finance minister.
Step 2
The prototype of the prison, which becomes the main scene of the multi-part film, and into which two brothers, Kirill Panin and Alexei Chernov, fall for different reasons and for different purposes, became the famous "Kresty", where now the remand center No. 1 of St. Petersburg is located. True, the Escape crew was not allowed to shoot on the territory of the "Crosses" themselves. Therefore, outdoor filming was carried out in Nizhny Novgorod, where there is a red-brick prison building made in the shape of a cross, and the main pavilions are at Mosfilm.
Step 3
A three-story building with prison bars and a promenade courtyard was erected at the film studio especially for the Escape. During the construction, the designers studied the structure of real prisons in order to recreate the most authentic atmosphere. Therefore, in the film, the prison is shown with narrow corridors and numerous backrooms.
Step 4
Throughout the entire filming process, make-up artists for six hours painted actor Yuri Chursin all over his body with a large-scale color tattoo depicting a prison plan. According to the plot, the hero of Chursin, Aleksey Chernov, nicknamed "Malok", got himself a tattoo to make it easier to organize an escape for his brother Kirill, who was unjustly sentenced to capital punishment - the death penalty.
Step 5
The second season of the Russian multi-part film was filmed not only in the pavilions, but also on location: in the Krasnodar Territory, where, according to the script, the brothers find themselves after escaping from prison, and from where they are going to get on a yacht to Turkey.
