The sensational series of the scandalous director Valeria Gai Germanicus was launched on Channel One on January 11, 2010. After that, the picture caused a huge public outcry, riveting the attention of young people, critics, teachers and parents.
Director Valeria Gai Germanika conducted the casting for the main roles independently. Moreover, she implemented the same approach in the selection of actors as when working on her film "Everyone will die, but I will stay" - graduates of theatrical universities and schools of the capital, who are currently about twenty-three years old, acted as teenagers. For example, fifteen-year-old Anya Nosova was played by Valentina Likashchuk, who was born in 1988, and the performer of the role of Irina Shishkova graduated from the Yaroslavl State Theater Institute in 2007.
It's not hard to see the filming style of the show. A camera without a tripod was used in the work, so the effect of real-time mode is created when the device is in the hands of the operator. The music in the episodes is not specially planted anywhere. It sounds only if it is present in the scene itself.
No additional decorations were used, the plot developed right on the spot and passed along with the characters. All shooting took place at school # 945 in Moscow, located near the Krasnogvardeyskaya metro station. According to the director of this school, this educational institution was chosen because of its "special architecture and convenient location." Filming was first carried out during school hours. Moreover, the film crew interfered with the teachers, and they, in turn, got underfoot, some students ran away from lessons to take part in the crowd (after all, one shooting day was paid for 500 rubles). As a result, filming was postponed to Saturday and Sunday, and sometimes filmed at night. In this case, artificial daylight was used. The school also had to paint some of the walls in a darker color.
During the filming, the excitement around the school became more frequent. The guards had to increase the access control and figure out who is an actor and who is a simple student or a curious journalist. The television version did not include some scenes of a sexual nature and mate. Although, according to one of the actors, there will be no censorship in the series released on DVD.
