Friends is a popular television series that was filmed from 1994 to 2004. He not only won many film awards, but also received the most important award - the love of the audience. And Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Phoebe and Joe have become their own for many people.
Friends creators David Crane and Martha Kaufman are life buddies. According to them, one day they decided to come up with a series that would be interesting to watch for themselves. Three different scripts were written for the new project, but only one of them, which at that time existed under the name "Friends are Like Us", was taken to work. Filming began with a casting - the writers had to find six people who could embody their ideas about the characters. A candidate for the role of Ross Geller was discovered even before filming began, and the character was created specifically for him. The actors for the role of Phoebe and Joey were chosen after the very first audition, so well suited to their roles. Initially, after auditioning, Jennifer Aniston was supposed to play Monica, and Courtney Cox, in turn, Rachel, but the girls insisted on changing roles, choosing characters that matched their character. Matthew Perry - the actor who played Chandler, came to Los Angeles to play tennis, but fate threw him on the set, where he got the role. Most of the action of the series takes place in Manhattan, but the film crew never went to New York. Filming took place in the pavilions of the Warner Brothers studio located in Hollywood. The characters' apartments, Central Coffee House, and even the fountain that appears in the splash screen were artfully assembled sets. Las Vegas, where the heroes went in one of the seasons, was also located in Hollywood. It wasn't until season four that the cast and crew went to London to shoot footage of Ross Geller's wedding. This trip was a tribute to the TV series' many UK fans. The filming of the series took place in front of an audience, who were previously handed out sheets with a printed script to make it easier for people to perceive the plot. The creators of Friends took into account the opinion of the audience. For example, in the first episode, Monica was supposed to break up with a guy immediately after she slept with him for the first time, but viewers found such an act offensive, and he was excluded from the series. After the end of the eighth season, fans noted that Friends had lost their former originality. The storylines have exhausted themselves, the quality of the dialogue has deteriorated. In addition, the actors were already involved in the filming of classic films. It was decided to end the show. Parting with "Friends" was painful for both the audience and the actors themselves, who managed to become friends during the filming. The last episode, in which the main characters leave Monica and Chandler's apartment, leaving their keys on the table, was broadcast in New York in Times Square on a huge street screen. In 1999, a full-length film was released about the filming of the popular television series.
