The Comedy Club show is the first analogue of American stand-up performances in Russia. In 2003, only a few residents performed at the Comedy Club. Now the program is known throughout the country and gathers millions of TV viewers.
The KVN team “New Armenians” is behind the creation of the Russian version of the Comedy Club. In the early 2000s, Artashes Sargsyan returned from a trip to the United States and infected his friends with the idea of creating a Russian analogue of stand-up comedy.
A few years later, the first program aired on TNT. The groundwork turned out to be successful - the Comedy Club ratings began to grow. The production team got the first money, which the guys spent on the development of the project. Then the production center "Comedy Club Production" was created.
Residents
Now the list of residents of the Comedy Club includes several dozen people. Among them are Pavel Volya, Garik Martirosyan, Garik Kharlamov, Timur Batrutdinov, Semyon Slepakov and many other comedians. Each of them composes jokes on their own, often directly improvising on stage. The Comedy Club also has about fifty of its own authors.
Residents of the Comedy Club are the highest paid artists of the humorous genre in our country. Now "Comedy Club" is represented by several companies, which are managed from the Moscow office. Residents of "Comedy" work in the studio, go to corporate concerts, perform in clubs and festivals.
Where is the shooting taking place?
The program is currently being filmed at the Golden Palace entertainment center. The shooting schedule is published in advance. Usually there are three broadcasts per day, each of which is about three hours long. The general collection takes place in the Golden Palace wardrobe and starts well before filming.
It's quite easy to get to the shooting of Comedy Club. You just need to call the managers. Usually, people between the ages of 18 and 35 years old, with a pleasant appearance and stylishly dressed, are allowed under the television spotlights. If you are lucky enough to become a guest spectator, remember - clothes should be club-like and bright. No black top!
The history of stand-up comedy
Many in our country are used to thinking that the stand-up comedy genre was born in the USA. Not at all - the first stand-ups appeared in Great Britain in the 18th century. At first, comedians performed in music halls. All performances were thoroughly censored, which was canceled only in 1968.
In the US, stand-up comedy grew out of vaudeville. The founders of the genre are Norman Wilkerson, Mark Twain, Woody Allen and Lenny Bruce. The heyday of stand-up came in the post-war period, when humorous clubs began to grow like mushrooms in the United States.
Sometimes the participants of the Russian Comedy Club are accused of a low level of jokes and "toilet" humor. But this is the style of the genre. In the United States, for example, Lenny Bruce was arrested several times for swearing and indecent behavior on stage.
