Chinese flying lanterns create a romantic and fairytale atmosphere at any event, which is why they are so in demand at birthdays, weddings and other celebrations. Many firms offer their services today for launching flying lanterns into the sky, but you can try to make such lanterns yourself. They have a fairly simple structure, and in order to make a flying lantern, you do not need any special tools.

It is necessary

  • Foil;
  • paraffin;
  • light paper;
  • glue stick;
  • Scotch;
  • compass;
  • stapler;
  • aluminum wire;
  • cotton fabric.

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, you need to find a large amount of fairly thin paper. The thinner the paper, the better - you can use rice paper, tissue paper, or wrapping paper. Both the paper and the frame of the flashlight should be as light as possible, since the weight of the flashlight should not exceed 150 grams.

Step 2

The flight is carried out by the burner, which creates warm air inside the lantern, which lifts it up. It is best to make a flashlight at least a meter high so that the wind does not blow warm air from under the dome.

Step 3

Make a drawing of the future lantern, and then glue a 135x98 cm piece of thin paper. Work the seams with an adhesive pencil so that the thin paper does not get wet from ordinary glue, and then wipe the surfaces to be joined with a clean rag.

Step 4

After you glue the panel into the pipe, calculate the radius of the lantern cover, and then use a compass to draw the cover on paper, taking into account the adhesion allowances. Cut the allowance in a circle into the docking tabs, and then glue the cover to the top of the lantern using a stapler and transparent tape.

Step 5

Tape the joint to keep the structure tight. After that, narrow the bottom hole of the future lantern - it will be its neck. To do this, clamp the edges of the neck with a stapler or paper clips.

Step 6

While the glue dries, assemble the torch and fuel cell frame. To do this, use adhesive tape to glue four thin bamboo skewers to the bottom of the lantern, forming the base of the frame, and attach a cross-piece twisted from light aluminum wire to the skewers.

Step 7

As a fuel cell, you can use a plain cotton or linen cloth wrapped in finely chopped paraffin wax. To soak the fabric with paraffin, place the fuel cell in the microwave for a minute.

Step 8

Fasten the fuel cell to the wire cross by wrapping it with one more turn of wire, and under the element fix a cup made of foil so that the paraffin, while heating, does not flow down. The lantern is ready.
