In the modern world, originality is perhaps the main quality of a woman's outfit. And what could be more original than a dress made with your own hands? Sewing the dress yourself is not at all as difficult as it might seem at first glance.
First, you need to take measurements: the semicircle of the neck, chest, above the chest, waist and hips. Secondly, it is worthwhile to imagine in advance what length and style the dress should be. The material and its color also play an important role. To build a drawing of the pattern of the future dress, you need to draw a rectangle (ABCD). The width of the dress is determined by the size of the semicircle of the chest, which is equal to the lines AB and DC. Add to this the headroom for a free fit.
The length of the dress is reflected in lines AD and BC.
The depth of the armhole in the drawing is shown by a line drawn from point A to G. The armhole is about 1/10 of the circumference of the chest plus 10-12 cm. Further, the line goes to the right, intersecting with BC at point G1.
The waistline is laid down from point A down. It is equal to the length of the back to the waist, usually about 35-40 cm. At this mark, point T is put and a segment to the right is laid, which intersects with BC. The intersection point is designated as T1.
The hip line is laid down from the T point (about 15-18 cm). From the bottom point L, a segment is laid to BC with the intersection point L1.
The width of the back is determined by 1/8 of the circumference of the chest plus about 4-6 cm and an increase in freedom of fit. It is laid on the drawing to the right from point G to point A. Then from point G2 the line goes up to the intersection with AB, mark P.
The width of the armhole of the dress is 1/8 of the chest circumference, subtract 1.5-2 cm and add a margin for freedom of fit.
The rise of the shelf of the dress is depicted in the drawing by point W, set aside from G1 at the distance of a quarter of the chest circumference plus 0.5-1 cm. The same amount must be set aside from point G3 to P1. the point of intersection with the line AB is designated as P2. points P1 and W must be connected.
The side line of the dress is indicated by the point G, which is placed in the middle between G2 and G3. downward from G4 a line that crosses DC falls. Its intersection with the segment TT1 is designated as T2, with the segment LL1 - as L2.
It is also necessary to put down the auxiliary points of the shoulder and armholes. For this, the sections PG2 and P2G3 must be divided into four parts.
When choosing this or that style of the future dress, it is important to take into account its combination with your figure. However, good color schemes can radically change the impression of the size of the dress. For example, the transverse stripes of the dress are more suitable for tall women. But the owners of a miniature figure should choose a fabric with a small pattern and sew a dress in styles that emphasize the dignity of their figure. Many women of fashion take care of combining the color of the dress with an eye tint. An important role is played by decoration and decorative elements - applications, collars, pockets.
