Step 1

First of all, something about ammunition. Weapons are zeroed in with those cartridges that are supposed to be used more often than others in the future. In the future, it will be possible to zero in with other cartridges, after the features of the gun have been identified.

The target for sighting the optics is a circle with a diameter of about 10 cm, drawn on a sheet of light paper measuring 75 by 75 cm. The standard distance for sighting should be 100 m, since the ballistic characteristics of the cartridge are given for distances that are multiples of hundreds of meters. In the future, the data obtained at this distance will be easier to operate when the sighting distance is increased to 200 and 300 m.

Shooting when zeroing in is carried out from a prone position, using an emphasis that must be firm. The weapon for hunting is aimed at the aiming point. Since in the future, it may be necessary to clarify the average displacement of the hit from the aiming point, it is recommended to draw vertical and horizontal lines on the target in advance. These lines should go through the aiming point.

Step 4

The peculiarity of sighting optics is that you should start by firing at a target set at 50 m. First, select an aiming point through an open sight. Lock the weapon in this position.

Step 5

Using the adjustment drums, bring the crosshair (stump) of the telescopic sight to the previously found point. Now take a test shot. In general, the general principles of shooting a gun are quite simple: you need to bring the crosshair of the sight to the point where the bullet hits. This requires, however, to prepare a device for securing the weapon in the position from which the shot was fired. In the field, it is convenient to use special portable sighting rigs.

Step 6

Further actions involve changing the sighting distance to 100, 200 and 300 m. The change in the bullet point of impact depends on the movement of the sight. To shift the hit point to the left, you need to move the crosshair to the right and vice versa. To shift the point of impact down, the crosshair is raised up, etc.

Step 7

Correction drums are equipped with divisions, the values of which for each distance and for each type of cartridges should be recorded at the end of zeroing. Please note that the side drum must be permanently exposed.

Step 8

For a complete picture of how the gun beats, it is recommended to make several shots from a distance of about 5 m. This will allow, in the event of an unexpected appearance of a large animal at close range, to put a bullet at the most lethal place.

Step 9

It does not interfere with the sighting of the optics to establish how the bullet falls when firing at a distance of 200 and 300 m with the sight set at 100 m. This will allow you to make a visual correction without moving the optics crosshair if the beast appears for a short time and at a considerable distance.
