Instructions

Step 1

Find videos of professional pianists playing during concerts that clearly show their posture, hand positions, and posture. Watch the video, highlight the similarities, and learn how to properly sit at the piano. Many people underestimate these nuances, but in fact it is very important. So place a large mirror in front of the instrument so that you can see yourself from the side, and then take the desired position.

Make sure you sit exactly as pianists do. Keep your elbows in front of you so that your ribs do not interfere with free movement. Keep your back straight so you can see the entire keyboard. If you sit hunched over, it will be more difficult to move your arms and will no longer be so light. Slightly lower and relax your shoulders so you don't feel unnecessary tension.

Step 2

Now switch your attention to the position of the hands - incorrect positioning will cause discomfort during the game, as well as muscle pain. Place your fingers on the keyboard - place the ring, middle and index on the black keys, which are located next to each other. The pinky and thumb should lie on the white. Place your hand a little deeper so that your fingers are not on the tips of the black keys, but on top of them. You do not need to lower your wrist, keep it raised, keeping the shape. It is advisable for a professional teacher to assess how correctly you sit at the piano and how you hold your hands.

It is very important that all fingers participate during the game, not just the most active ones. You may want to replace your thumb with your index finger or use your ring finger instead of your little finger, but you can't. Over time, through daily exercise, you will learn to make full use of your weak fingers.

Step 3

It is necessary to select and buy a self-instruction manual for beginners. Bookstores have a wide selection, so go through and choose the option that you understand and feel comfortable with. They describe all the nuances of the fit and position of the fingers, the details of the musical notation and the details of the octaves. Even if you are not going to become a professional musician, it is still worth reading the information in order to understand how the piano works and how to read the sheet music in the future.

Step 4

Learn musical notation. The names of all the notes are easy to learn, because they are always by ear: do, re, mi, fa, salt, la, si. But there are many more keys on a piano than there are notes, since notes are repeated every seven keys. They are counted in groups on the left side and go in order - this is the first octave, then the second octave. Then there is the third, fourth, after them the small, incomplete, large, subcontact and controctave. However, for independent play it is not at all necessary to know all these names, it is enough to understand where the octave ends and begins.

Step 5

Deal with the beat, sound duration and other nuances. Each melody has its own tempo, playback speed, and some notes last longer than others. Thanks to such nuances, the music becomes deeper, more rhythmic, more interesting. Therefore, it is important to learn how to determine the desired rhythm by looking at the sheet with notes. After all, everything is spelled out there, the main thing is to be able to read correctly.

The string of the staff is divided into parts by vertical bars, and everything between them is called a bar. The rhythm of the music is indicated by numbers near the key. It looks like two numbers, one above the other. The top one indicates the number of beats in each measure, and the bottom one is the note length of each score. For example, "three quarters" means that there will be three beats in each measure (one-two-three, one-two-three …). Four in this case means that there is one quarter note per count.

Step 6

Learn to read sheet music. It is not enough to know the names of the notes, you need to be able to distinguish them and correlate them with specific keys. Notes are written both on the rulers of the staff, and between them, as well as below and above. There are 5 lines in total in the camp.

Each note is written in a specific place in relation to the line. "Do" is one line lower than the lowest line, "re" is just below the line, and "mi" is right on the first line. F is halfway between the first and second rulers, G is right on the second, A is between the second and third, and B is right in the middle of the staff on the third ruler. Between the third and fourth rulers there is "C", but for the second octave. Then the notes go in the same order, but they already belong to the second octave. To get started, it will be enough to learn the relationship between the location of these notes and the keys on the piano.

Step 7

Practice with simple songs. You need to start with simple melodies that can be played with one hand. In self-study guides or in a book with sheet music for beginners, all songs are arranged from the simplest to the most difficult. Therefore, you should not skip over "boring" melodies in order to quickly get to your beloved. Consistency and training are important here.

Take your time, look at the staff, match the notes to the keys, and try to play the melody without sticking to the rhythm or duration of the sound. Just press the keys in sequence to select the appropriate position for your hand. Next time, try to follow the rhythm and duration of the press.

Step 8

If you want to play only certain popular melodies, and do not want to play by sheet music, you can learn from the video tutorials. To do this, you need to find a suitable video on youtube, which clearly and step by step shows how to play the melody correctly, and then repeat it by example. After 30-50 repetitions, you can memorize the key sequence and play the desired melody on your own, without even peeking in the video. If the playback speed is too fast, youtube has the option to slow down the video. To do this, on the panel at the bottom of the video, click on the gear, select the speed and the desired tempo: 0, 5 or 0, 25.
