A camera strap is a handy and relatively inexpensive item. The types of straps differ depending on how you intend to mount the camera. All you need to do is buy a strap and attach it to the desired mount.

Step 1
If you have bought an inexpensive household camera, the so-called “soap dish,” pay attention to its complete set. The belt may already be attached to the chassis, or may be in a box with other co-supplied equipment. Such a camera is small in size and is usually attached to a small strap, thanks to which the device can be hung on the wrist. The strap can be built into the camera or attached to a small mount on the body, like a cell phone.
Step 2
You have a semi-professional or professional camera, for example, Canon 1000D, Canon 550D, Canon 7D, Nikon D90, etc. The mechanical structure of the bodies of such devices is similar to each other, even in terms of attaching optics and even more so in terms of attaching straps. On the upper part of the body, two small strap mounts are located symmetrically on the sides relative to the optical viewfinder. Most likely, you will have to buy belts for such devices separately. The strap may be designed to be worn over the shoulder or on the wrist, but will fit the same regardless of the type.
Step 3
The belt has thin dense bands at both ends. They need to be pushed into the mounting holes, which were mentioned in the paragraph above. Secure and adjust the length as you like. Fasten the strap securely, provided that the unit is not properly secured, it may fall and damage the optics and internal mechanics or electronics.
