Unsharp and blurry photos are the subject of frustration for every photographer. If the frame that you dreamed of printing or publishing on the Internet turned out to be out of focus, you can try to sharpen it and improve the quality using Adobe Photoshop. Usually, Photoshop users know only one or two methods to improve the sharpness of photos, but in reality there are many more. We will tell you about some of the ways to sharpen a frame in this article.

Instructions

Step 1

The easiest way to enhance your photo is to use the Unsharp Mask filter found in the filters menu. By applying this filter to a photo, you can individually adjust several parameters - Amount, Radius and Threshold.

Step 2

In the first parameter, specify the required amount of influence of the filter, in the second - the radius of the effect of the filter on the desired area, and in the third parameter, set the value to zero.

Step 3

The result of applying such a filter does not always satisfy the owner of the photo, so you can additionally use the Highpass filter.

Step 4

Duplicate the layer and set the blending mode of the layers to Overlay. Open the layer's HueSaturation settings and remove saturation. In the filters menu, select the Other section and select the Highpass item. Adjust the sharpness by changing the position of the sliders on the filter settings.

Step 5

You can also sharpen using this filter by lowering the opacity of the layer to which it is applied. By lowering the opacity of the layer, you will decrease the sharpness too much, and by creating a copy of the layer, you will increase it.

Step 6

In some cases, it is useful to use the Smart Sharpen filter, which can be adjusted fine enough to make the photo look beautiful and high quality. Additionally, check the More Accurate box - this will make the filter work more accurate, and the result of its work will pleasantly surprise you. The Amount parameter in the settings should be set to the maximum value, and the radius should be no more than 0, 2.

Step 7

You can also check the Lense Blur option if there are a lot of small details in the frame. You can adjust the effect of the filter on the highlights of the image by setting the Fade Amount in the ShadowHighlight section to 0% and then increasing it as you wish.

Step 8

Additionally, you can install special plugins to control the sharpness of the image in your version of Photoshop. These plugins are easy to download from the Internet - for example, FocalBlade or PhotoKit Sharpener.

Step 9

For the best image quality, copy the image onto a new background and edit the copy before adjusting the sharpness. Subsequently, set the layer blending mode to Luminosity.
