The family coat of arms is a special symbol that unites all members of the same genus. Several centuries ago, great importance was attached to it, but today the creation of a symbolic image is optional.

Search the sources available to you for information on family origins. Perhaps you belong to a small noble class, and your family already had a coat of arms in ancient times. In this case, it can be taken and transferred to modern materials, without making a new drawing.

If you need to create a coat of arms from scratch, then first determine the values of your family, its services to society and distinctive characteristics. For example, if someone in your family builds military aircraft, you can place an image of a fighter jet in the center of the figure.

Think about what illustrations will be needed to accurately describe the listed values. If you cannot find it yourself, seek help from the rest of the family, because drawing up a coat of arms is a collective creativity.

Explore the basic shapes that are traditionally used in heraldry, and stop at one of them. Its contours will make the symbol recognizable, will not allow it to be confused with another object of arts and crafts.

Stop at a specific set of symbols that you plan to depict within the shape. There should not be too many of them in order to prevent an overabundance of small details that will create a feeling of some chaos.
