Instructions
Step 1
To knit a scarf with an elastic band, you can use several methods and each of them does not cause any difficulties. Before knitting, be sure to try to make a pattern to correctly calculate the loops for the main product. For knitting, you need ordinary knitting needles and threads. If the scarf is intended for very cold weather, then it is better to prefer angora or mohair. This will add volume to the scarf and hide small errors, if any. You also need to decide on the width of the product. You should not knit a scarf that is too narrow, but at the same time, there is no need to knit a nap-like product too wide.
Step 2
Elastic band 1x1. Cast on 50 stitches of mohair yarn. Knit the first row according to the scheme: * 1 front loop, 1 purl loop *. Repeat each next row according to the picture. As a result, you will get a product knitted with a rather dense elastic band (it all depends on the degree of fluency in knitting). Each one determines the length for himself, depending on the purpose of the scarf. The best option is a scarf with a length of 120-150 cm.
Step 3
Elastic band 2x2. Cast on 50 loops and knit according to the scheme: * 2 front loops, 2 purl loops *. Knit each next row according to the figure. Thus, the resulting grooves will turn out to be somewhat wider than in the previous version.
Step 4
Elastic band 1x1 (under the loop). Cast on 50 loops and knit the first row according to the scheme: * 1 front loop, 1 purl loop *. Knit the second and subsequent row according to the pattern, but here it is necessary to observe some deviations from the usual style. Tie each front loop not into the loop itself, but under the bottom, as a result of which you will knit two loops at once - this row and the previous one. Purl the loop as usual. This knitting method is excellent in that the grooves are very embossed, in addition to this, the product has an even structure.
Step 5
After making, wash the scarf using a suitable detergent, stretch it slightly, straighten it and dry it. Then make brushes that tie around the edges of the piece. The length of the brushes and their fullness is a matter of taste and idea. In the last step, lay out the edges of the scarf, comb the brushes and trim them.
