Code Geass: Lelouch Risen is a sequel to feature-length films about the blue-blooded revolutionary Lelouch Lamperouge. The worldwide release took place on February 9, 2019. The premiere for Russian anime fans is scheduled for June.
History of creation
The progenitor of Code Geass: Fukkatsu no Lelouch is the series Code Geass. He is considered the benchmark for anime in the genre of alternative history. The series has two seasons, it ran from 2006 to 2008 and enjoyed success, despite some primitivism. She became famous not so much for her plot, full of intrigue and dangerous twists, but also for her extraordinary protagonist.
Code Geass: Lelouch Risen is a sequel to the Lelouch feature film, not a TV series. Therefore, the plot of the new sequel has little in common with him. The creators explained the discrepancy not by denying the series, but by one of the likely scenarios for the development of its events. They also assure that the film will be the last chapter about the adventures of the legendary Lelouch.
Brief plot
The film is a direct continuation of the third feature film "Code Geass: Risen Lelouch - The Path of Awakening", at the end of which the main character dies. In the sequel, the action takes place on the land of Jirukusutan two years after the end of the plan "Requiem for Zero". Then Lelouch, having received the magical gift of Geass, prevailed over the enemy. At the same time, he asked his friend Suzaku to kill him. The death was a tactical move of Lelouch: first he directed the hatred of the entire planet on himself, and then by his death he wanted to establish peace.
This plot twist was a blow to anime fans. And the creators decided to shoot a sequel, in which Lelouch's plan failed. In the sequel, a new enemy attacks Suzaku and Lelouch's sister. From the title of the film, it is clear that the creators decided to resurrect their beloved hero. It is he who will come to the aid of his sister and close friend.
Trailer
Before and after the world premiere, the creators released several trailers. Judging by them, the heroes of the sequel will face many battles with robots. It also became known that the composition Revive by UNIONE was chosen as the "musical face" of the film. The creators tried not to spoil much in the trailers.
Main characters, voice actors and creators
In the sequel, fans will see three beloved heroes: the revolutionary Lelouch, his friend Suzaku, nicknamed the White Knight, and the mysterious witch girl with green hair named Xi Xi. They will also be joined by new characters, including the villain Shario, Bituru and Shesutaaru.
Very famous actors in Japan took part in the voice acting of the sequel. Thus, Lelouch speaks in the voice of Yun Fukuyama. In the English version, the main character is voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch.
Suzaki Kurirugi has the voice of Takahiro Sakurai in the original, and Yuri Löventhal in the English version. Green-haired witch Xi Xi speaks in the voice of Yukana Nogami. She is a very popular voice actress and j-pop singer in Japan. In the English translation, the witch was voiced by the American actress Keith Higgins.
The sequel was filmed by the legendary Japanese animation studio Sunrise. The director was Goro Taniguchi. He also directed the TV series Code Geass and three feature films about Lelouch. On account of his directing such famous anime series as "With Fire and Sword", "Immaculate Mary".
