The volume of an object in the picture can be conveyed using color. If the object is monochrome, the task becomes more complicated. Therefore, in order to draw a voluminous heart, you need to catch and depict the smallest changes in shades of red.

Instructions

Step 1

Lay a sheet of watercolor paper horizontally. With a simple pencil, make notes that will indicate the location of the objects on the sheet and their sizes. Draw a frame parallel to the sides of the sheet at a distance of 1.5-2 cm from the edge. The drawing should not go beyond these limits.

Step 2

Draw the vertical axes around which to draw the symmetrical halves. The axis of the right heart is deviated from the central vertical axis by about 30 degrees. Left - 45.

Step 3

Mark the height and width of each object by using the "serifs" with a pencil. The maximum width of the heart on the right is equal to its height. The heart on the left is higher, so it looks shorter, but its width remains the same.

Step 4

You can add volume to the picture using color. Use any material for this - from pencils to ink. For example, to paint hearts with watercolors, determine the lightest shade that is visible on their surface. It is scarlet with the addition of yellow. It is visible near the highlights and on the right side of every object. Outline the shape of the highlights (window reflections) and apply the chosen shade to the entire surface of the drawing. Then mix scarlet with a little brown. Fill all but the lightest areas with it.

Step 5

Gradually increase the amount of brown in the mixture and apply new shades in layers, without affecting the areas that are colored lighter. This will gradually bring you to a horizontal dark band at the top of each of the hearts. Use the same color to outline the edges of the objects. At the top, the line should outline the heart, at the bottom - move away from the edge by a few millimeters. Towards the bottom of the heart, the line gets wider. Increase the pressure on the brush to add thickness gradually.

Step 6

Draw shadows from objects. Their borders should be indistinct, and their saturation should increase towards the right edge. Draw light red reflexes near the heart.
