Paul Giamatti was born on June 6, 1967 in a major port, a city in the eponymous county of Connecticut on the shores of Long Island New Haven. Paul's father, Angelo Bartlett Giamatti, was a professor at Yale University. He was promoted to president of this institution and a member of the Major League Baseball Commission. Paul's mother, Tony Marilyn, was a housewife. In her spare time, she taught English at Hopkins School. She was Irish, and one of Paul's grandfathers was Italian. In addition, the Giamatti family had immigrants from New England.
Paul was the youngest of three children. He has a brother, Marcus, who also devoted himself to the acting profession. Paul's sister, Elena, is engaged in jewelry design.
