At all times, composers have studied the theory of their mastery. The main conclusion drawn by musicians of the 20th century is that it is impossible to learn how to make music. How do authors find new melodies and create new works?

Step 1
An experienced musician when asked: "How did you find this melody?" - Will answer: "stole". It will be both true and false.
This is not true, because the melody of his work sounds like something new, hitherto not performed and not sounded. It is entrusted with an unusual instrument, has an unusual rhythm, an unusual interval composition, unusual accompaniment, etc.
This is true because no one person can create a melody by himself. You can hear her. Some hear them in a dream (as Pushkin saw poetry, woke up and reached for a pen), others in reality in deep thought. Nevertheless, there is no active merit of the composer in obtaining the melody.
If it seems to you that the melody has already been created by someone else, play it to someone you know, preferably to several. If the answer is no, feel free to develop your find.
Step 2
At the same time, it takes some knowledge to hear these melodies. First of all, this is classical music education (school, college, university). Thanks to the lessons, the musician develops the ear, learns to divide the work into separate timbres, intervals, chords, sees certain sequences and patterns.
This education cannot fully satisfy the musician, since it gives only formal knowledge. Even a graduate of the faculty of composing may be unprepared for independent creativity if he does not study independently and develop his own style.
Step 3
Observation is another prerequisite for creativity. Musicians who keep a diary will be especially successful. Note the seemingly insignificant details of any event or phenomenon. Draw conclusions and bold assumptions. Write down, sketch, capture all the perceived information.
Step 4
Try it. Record a piece, and preferably be guided by the instrumental composition in which you play or with which you collaborate. Pay attention to the technical level of the performers, simplify the score on demand.
