If you come up with an idea to make your own film, start preparing by developing a concept for it. This will help you organize the material you need to create your script. With a clear understanding of the genre, storyline, and length of the upcoming movie, you can start looking for the resources you need to complete your project.
Instructions
Step 1
Freely write down your thoughts about the future film. To develop a concept, you will need to decide what genre you are going to work in and what opportunities you have to implement the project.
Step 2
Describe the storyline of the movie. At the initial stage, it is enough to come up with where the action will begin and how it will end. In between these moments, insert a few plot turning points. When creating this sketchy story, try to imagine how you will show the next turn of the action.
Step 3
Make a list of the main characters needed to develop the fictional plot. Describe each character with one phrase. If you already know the performers of two or three key roles, take as a basis the real people who will play in your film.
Step 4
If you still do not quite accurately imagine the cast of the project, postpone the work on the details of the characters' characters until the time when the performers are found and it will be possible to adapt the role for a specific person.
Step 5
Record all the scenes and dialogues that come to your mind as you plot your story. When you see the place where one of the actions of the invented story could take place, take a photo of it, and when saving the file, indicate where this photo was taken. Memorize and save figurative phrases that you accidentally hear on the street. All of these materials will prove useful when writing a script.
Step 6
An outside perspective may be helpful when refining the concept. Collect your sketches into a coherent storyline, preceded by a brief description of the characters. Show the text to a few acquaintances who are not involved in the project. If their comments are somewhat similar, correct your text. Redesigning the concept will take less time and effort than changing the finished script.
Step 7
Having developed the concept of the film, proceed to create the script. In working on it, use the text and graphic materials saved during the creation of the concept.
