It is necessary

  • - dense fabric;
  • - lining fabric;
  • - strong threads;
  • - zipper;
  • - Velcro;
  • - scissors;
  • - ruler;
  • - pencil;
  • - sewing machine;
  • - non-woven fabric;
  • - 2 snap hooks and 2 handle rings.

Instructions

Step 1

A messenger bag can be sewn from any fabric, but dense material that keeps its shape is most suitable for making it. It can be raincoat fabric, corduroy, velvet, linen, denim, or edging. Pieces of natural or artificial leather and fur are also suitable.

Step 2

Start by building a pattern for a messenger bag. Usually it is a rectangle or square with a long handle, thanks to which the bag can be carried over the shoulder. Cut out 2 rectangles measuring 20x30 cm from the base and backing material.

Step 3

If you want to decorate a messenger bag, then start making it with decorating. Mark the location of the embroidery or appliqué. For greater strength, sew on the elements by hand, and sew the appliqué along the contour.

Step 4

Fold the rectangles together, aligning all the cuts, and grind them on three sides, leaving the top cut of the pieces unstitched. Fold out the bottom corners of the workpiece and stitch it on the wrong side. This technique will allow you to make the bag more roomy.

Step 5

Sew the lining in the same way. Insert it into the main part of the bag. Fold the upper cuts to the wrong side. Insert the zipper tape between the folds so that the teeth are visible and sew.

Step 6

Sew the sides of the bag. Fold out the bottom corners and stitch from the wrong side. This will make your bag more spacious and wider.

Step 7

Cut out from the base material or any other 2 equal parts for the valve measuring 15x30 cm. Fold them with the right sides inward and stitch them on three sides. Cut off the corners and turn the flap out. Straighten the seam carefully.

Step 8

Sew 2 pieces of Velcro to the bottom of the flap. Bend the top side 1 cm and stitch it to the back of the bag. On the front side, mark the places where the Velcro is attached and sew on the second parts of this element.

Step 9

For the handle, cut out a rectangle 110 cm long and 7-8 cm wide. Duplicate it with non-woven fabric. Fold in half lengthwise, fold over the cuts and sew the part on both sides at a distance of 0.5 cm from the folds.

Step 10

Wrap the end of the strap around the carabiner. Fold the cut and sew on a typewriter with a double line.

Step 11

Cut out 2 rectangles 10 cm long and 7-8 cm wide. Sew the parts in the same way as for the handle. Fold them in half, insert rings into the rectangles, and sew the details to the sides of the product. Attach the strap carabiner to the rings.
